If close to 9,000 people are in SecondLife, who's at the SLCC? |

There's only a couple of hundred going to the SLCC.
The rest of us are mostly those who can't afford it. It would have cost me around $1400 for a flight to SF from the UK; the convention itself would not not have been an issue financially (although how much of it would have been of use to me considering I avoid alcohol, and what subjects I have an interest in, is debateable). I'll stick the media stream on for a bit later in my theatre, and sit down to watch what's going on for a bit... until the griefers mass and crash the grid, of course. If you're in SF and you see a car driving at speed and going through red lights... that'll be a Lindenmobile heading from the hotel to the data centre to restart the grid. Expect it several times too. Lewis _____________________

Maybe everyone's flying to San Francisco to go to a hotel and play SL. Kinda like the people who travel across the country to a furry convention, and spend the whole con in their hotel room using FurryMUCK or whatever

There's only a couple of hundred going to the SLCC. 413 attendees, IIRC. If you're in SF and you see a car driving at speed and going through red lights... that'll be a Lindenmobile heading from the hotel to the data centre to restart the grid. Expect it several times too. Not all of the Lindens were at the convention at all times - I'm sure they had someone watching. I was busy hanging out having a good time - without drinking - so, how many times did the grid go down? _____________________
