For the last couple weeks, no matter what I do to alter any shapes I buy, the following problems remain: 1. The shoulder blades jut way out. 2. There is always a gap between the arm and the chest - a big gap. 3. The chest features a big dip that makes my avatar look like it needs to be force-fed lard. I've tried adding body fat, making the body thicker, fiddling with the torso every which way .. nothing works. Any tips on how I can change this? I bought a new shape, but it didn't help. I'd rather not spend more money on a shape unless I know for sure that it will help. Thanks.

Have you tried making the torso more muscular?

Yep.
I've pretty much tried every single thing. I spent ages fiddling with each slider.

I'd try Preferences, (control P), then Graphics Detail, then Avatar Vertex Program - whatever it is, set it the other way.
What result do you get if you use a shape from the library?

I helped her out, whoever made her shape had the body fat set to 0 and the muscles set very low, both of which cause the avatar "skeleton" to show through. I'm not sure why so many people think looking like a heroine addict is a desirable thing.
