Hey all.
I'm looking for a place to go + hang out: Not to gamble. Not to shop. Not to be a furry (Though Luskwood is pretty nice!).
Aside from the above three, it seems like the best places to chat are sandboxes + the 'welcome to SL!' hubs. Am I missing something? Where do you go to chill?
cya there!

If you want to find places where other people are, to chat while chilling, one approach is to use the map - look for green dots. Just keep going from green dot cluster to green dot cluster. If you find a place that seems like what you like, make a landmark, being sure to customize the landmark text so that it means something to you later, and put the landmark in a folder with a name that will help you later. The ROAM search engine at ROAM "Search The Metaverse" might help you find what you are looking for. You might find that the casinos that give out free money aren't bad places to hang out. You don't have to gamble, just chat with the people there and collect the occaisional free money. Are you looking for a place to meet people at or a place to go with people you already know?

Clubs always have fun contests like Best Tatoo or other stuff like that, have great music...usually, and you can socialize with other people.

You might find the Shelter to your liking, it's at Isabel (39, 229), run by Travis Lambert.

Grab a copy of "Pathfinder's Picks." You can find this notecard in a kiosk at the Welcome Areas in Waterhead and Ahern. I've placed kiosks on my properties to make available to people looking for something different. http://forums.secondlife.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=21059

I'd suggest just going for a wander! Wander your way to Slootsville, we are all pretty harmless and enjoy a good chinwag

Go to Serpent Isle. Excellent swimming pool, dance floor at the club there. Also if you like driving we have a speedway, teleport to the club & speedway pits are at the telehub. Just search for Serpent Isle. IM Alisa Honey, Lori Nino, or myself. (I won't be on till after 4:00pm game time) Sometime tonight we will be doing a yard sale as well. Maybe even a game of Quintzee .

You know, the Blue Note is a really nice place, so it House of Blades (even though it's a mall, it isn't, you can chill, hang out, etc).
That's all I can think about right now...

This is not a club, has no money balls or contests... its a fun place where i hangout with my friends. U can always im MagicJustSue Kojima, Lecktor Hanibal or me for a port. Or just pop in.

I too was wondering where to just hang when I want to relax a bit in SL.
I have often tried looking for a large amount of green dots on the map and fly off over there only to find it is some nakky party or sex related somesuch thingy with bad music or none at all. Green Dot process does not work for me.
I hate the Events tab - belch--- unless I filter it which I forget to do most of the time.
These all sound interesting. Since I was recently 'removed' from the Transylvanians(not sure why, but oh well *shrugs*) I have been looking for another place to chill.
It is nice to see people's personal recommendations. **hugss** Misty - maybe I'll pop over to the Roadhouse this weekend.

From: Jesse Rollins Not to be a furry (Though Luskwood is pretty nice!).
Actually I -do- wish more non-furry folks would come by Luskwood. Really, it's in no way furry-only, heh. I know that folks feel like they 'dont fit in' if they don't have a furry av but really - we don't care. On another note, I've been looking for similar places... I'll log on sometimes and it'll be "Ok.. Tringo. Tringo. Tringo... is anyone just -hanging out and talking-?" Places like that are hard to find...

Even though I'm not around there much anymore, it was the first place in SL that I felt "at home".

With the exception of the late, late night game time - you can usually find a bunch of people hanging out at the Shelter dancing & chatting. Everyone that's a regular seems to enjoy helping new folks & answering random questions Only caveat - if you don't like 80s music, you'd best fire up your Winamp. The song request system is automated, so even if you're the only one there in the middle of the night - you can own the playlist. About the only thing we use the event calendar for these days is our two game shows - Trivial Obsession & Payment Podium, which are Sun-Thurs at 6PM. Just because nothing's listed on the event calendar, doesn't mean nothing's going on - and everyone's welcomed with open arms no matter what sub-group in SL you identify with

A place to hang
10-23-2005 06:48
I'm pretty new but I found the folks at the Elbow Room friendly. Most times there are a few people there, some good music, but not so many that you all drown each other out with chat. And don't forget to try the Cootie Detector!

Well, not to toot my own horn very much, there's also the Chatelaine Public Rec Area in Thunberg.
We created a large outdoor sprawl area in which the main emphasis is to just hang out and have a good time. We have free bowling lanes, free skee ball, sim invaders, a money tree for new players checking out SL, gaming tables such as mahjong, Greedy Greedy, One Up (all free as well), art galleries, a very nice, romantic dance pavillion with salsa and slow dance balls, Tyg Jarrico's Burning Life 2005 exhibit "Orbs of Wonder", a small casino, bingo parlor, lunar lander and a host of other things.
We don't hold events, but if enough visitors are interested, yes, we'll fire up some Slingo, Blood 21, or free slot play, but mostly the rec area is just for casual fun, socializing, and introducing new players to the SL experience without nickling and diming them to death.

Check out the Big Easy sim. You'll see some amazing builds and very likely run into some creative and generous people putting the finishing touches on their vision of New Orleans. Most likely the music you hear playing will be New Orleans jazz, blues and cajun stylings thanks to JustMagicSue and Lecktor of Roadhouse Rawk Radio. They've put together a musical tribute to musicians from the area including Louis Armstrong, Neville Brothers, Dr. John, Fats Domino and many others.
