Boycott the blogs?

Do you think that, if everyone stopped commenting on the blogs, and they were full of nothing but Linden postings and no player input, they might get the point that we want the forums back?

I thought of that, and also thought, ain't gonna happen.

However, it won't be necessary. Far fewer people are likely to feel involved enough (and brave enough) to post on a blog. I may be wrong, but don't far fewer people post to blogs than to forums in general?

Which brings up another question: Do people who run blogs like to watch how many hits they get, or how many comments, for bragging rights? Does LL want to have a "successful" blog, so they can look good to the other blogs around?

All of which makes me want to NOT give the blog hits. Or comment.

When I looked at it this morning, I noticed quite a few "negative" posts. Despite Pathfinder's attempt to keep a stranglehold on his own blog, apparently other Lindens aren't so thin-skinned. (In Pathfinder's defense, I noticed a few days ago that his blog entry - the one where he erased everyone he felt like erasing - was also his first blog entry, so maybe he will learn.)

I really don't feel much like chasing them over there and hoping that my comment will stick. Screw that. Though I will post when I have something I really want to say. Question is, with too many negative posts, what will they do next? Cut off replies? That's fine by me, too, cause it's all pretty much a sham anyway. Better to let no one post than to pick and choose your sycophants. That makes me want to puke.

On the other hand, it's probably not going to be all that bad, Pathfinder notwithstanding. I notice they remove things (a "f you" was removed), and probably remove lots more than I see. If the goal is to have everything positive - or said "just so" - then I think not only would it fail, I don't think they are mostly even trying. So that's good news.

Anyway, it's all irrelevant. They are taking so many steps in this divorce to put up walls between us and them. Problem is, it will wind up making them irrelevant, and it willl make SL irrelevant, too.

Well, it's all pretty much irrelevant to me. I'm glad they are closing these parts of the forums, and in any case, I'm pretty good at keeping forums separate from my own game, and the blogs are just that much easier to do that with.

all this moaning and whining about OMFG the boards are closing whatever will we do without boards... get a grip people! they are just message boards. They aren't even especially good ones. There are other boards that do the job better and they aren't hard to find.

go. be pretty. have fun. enjoy life. leave the poor lindens alone and quit yer bitching about the boards going away.

I have visited the blogs 4 times since this all began. 3 of them was because of grid status direction. 1 of them was to see what the TAO thing was about.

Speaking from the heart - the forums meant I was able to interact with many folks without meeting them in game. It was a way for me to stay in touch with the game. To know what was "going on" and what to watch for. I learned SO MUCH from these forums.

I am not refusing to go to the blogs, I just am not interested in "reading" without having the interaction with others. Sure I can post on the blog but to have a correspondence... there is none whatsoever.

As for the other forums, what the heck. I go there and there is nothing but posts about the forums closing. Too many to choose from. Makes everything confusing. Probably will end up at SLForums just because of the similar format that I am used to.

I am disappointed that LL has decided to follow through. Lets just see what is left of it after they are through uprooting one of the finest tools in SL history.
