I have a disability, so Second Life is important to me in that it allows me to have social contact where I had almost zero before.

I could live without it for a day or two but, honestly? Not for very much longer.

Pretty much unimportant. I do pop in once in a while, but not often enough to get a stipend weekly. I pretty much stay out to avoid the griefers and minors running rampant through the sims. :(

I hate to say I'm on every day. I pop on, just as one would to check email.
I have land and a SL company which I'm currently trying to sell. I DJ at several clubs and often try to check out other DJs and musicians, this being what I love the most. So, hopefully I'll be going from 'invested' into 'on a lot but just chillin'
I started wanting SL to be a major investment, but now I just wanna have some fun with some cool people. Believe me, SL is so much more fun, and such little stress when you remember that it's not work, and just for fun.

Why does this need to be related to money? Second Life is important for reasons other than money...

Not Addicted To Second Life
08-10-2006 05:34
I am on everyday, usually for about 3 to 4 hours Sunday through Thursday, and at least 8 hours or more on Friday and Saturday. To say the least I am pretty much addicted to SL. I enjoy almost every aspect of Second Life, from meeting new friends, exploring all the exciting places and yes have a speical friend in SL plus a lot of other very close friends. A lot of us came of other programs such as Moove/Rose.

Saying all that, there have been a few times when I have been ready to throw in the hat and quit it completely, mainly because I feel I am paying my preimum membership fee for full time access to the platform but I am only getting maybe four good days at the most. Every Wednesday LL does an updated to SL, then it takes hours afterwards to straighten out the bugs which should have been sorted out on the preview grid first.

My major complaint is they should be trying to fix all the bugs in the system before introducing new things which does nothing more than add more bugs they need to fix. End result? Bugs that never do get fixed. IMO getting the system fully functional should be a priority before introducing new things. Yes I know SL is better than any other platform out there but that does not mean in can't be a whole lot better.

Yes I will stay with SL until something better comes along...I just hope it is Second Life Three!

I'm not in the LEAST bid addicted!!! I'M NOT!!! Just because I knock down any human in the path of my computer when I hear my Avie calling me doesn't mean I even like it in the least! But you best not be in that computer chair when I have to be meeting Vio at a certain time to begin our shopping expeditions.....I'm not addicted....I swear! :D Just STEP away from the computer and no one gets HURT!!!!!!

I am very new to SL, though not new to metaverses. They have been around for ages, first textbased on university networks, but became booming when the internet became available to the masses.

The thing I enjoy about SL is that it's unique because of its accessibility and giving much power to its residents through the means of owning land and building stuff. The wonderful thing of SL is that it truly feels as a growing, independant and highly interactive virtual world dropping the borders between countries, which just screams to be explored by its residents.

I am curious how SL will look and feel in, let's say, 5 or 10 years. It will be a dramatic difference, I'm sure!

I have severe social anxiety disorder. It's been hard for me to leave the house for a while now, thanks to a couple really stupid phobias that I'm starting to get over.

SL, oddly, is actually helping - at least the people in it are.

SL helps calm my asperger's addled mind. And it 'keeps me off the streets'.
It's also the only place I can truly 'do my own thing' instead of being a xerox of a million other players, grinding away forever and accomplishing little.

I worship SL and LL. They are my Sun and my Moon. They have my heart and soul for all time.

Well, at least until a better Metaverse comes along.

And, yeah...what Phedre said too.

It isn't just about money.. it's about importance. Effort, money, time, contribution, desire, need, etc... all factors.

Welp, within one day, for me SL has gone from me being 'involved' into me 'popping in from time to time'

I am so disgusted with LLs actions, I'm almost finding it hypocritical of me to stay involved with SL. Ethically, I cannot continue to support LL.

Removing the forums... yet another act by LL to force me away from wanting to be involved with SL

I've invested quite a bit of time in SL, and $L, but not my own money. Still, if I couldn't play for a while, I'd be upset and probably cranky. I am addicted in a sense, because I've gotten close to a few people and I'd miss the interaction with them.

SL is a interesting time killer. I pop in from time to time. When I first started I was in the game alot. Since then I have found more things in the real world to keep me busy and much more fun.

Well, with the death of the forums, SL has now become totally unimportant to me. Forums were the only place in SL worth visiting anymore. :(
