Newb Griefer Rant *GRRR*

This is a rant.

Early this morning (game time) I was making av adjustments when I was hit with a scripted object and projected far from the group home land where I was standing.

Obviously, I was pissed off. I teleported back home to see if i could catch the culprit still there. And I did. He was hovering overhead at a distance wearing some Harry Potter-wannabe wizard costume. I got ready to report his abuse when he proceeded to descend and approach me. The conversation between us was as follows.

Newb Griefer: are you ok?
Me: who's shooting?
Newb Griefer: I made a mistake.

At this point I was prepared to forget the abuse report, as it seemed he was unaware of what he had done. He was, after all, a newb.

Newb Griefer: I didn't think you could tp back so quickly......
Bullet: Step away from the Cube
Newb Griefer: you must wear a shield?
Me: don't do that again
Newb Griefer: What will you do?
Newb Griefer: Do you think you can move me?

I readied myself to explain to him that shooting people against their will in SL is abuse and against community standards. But before I could do so, once again, the bastard shoots me and propells me off the land. Totally pissed now, I start typing up my abuse report in the area where I landed. He comes up to me and says:

Newb Griefer: forgive me?

I laughed in disbelief, teleported back home, and decided to be a real bitch about the whole thing. I reported his abuse. I then IM'd him, told him he was a f***ing dumbass, that his behaviour was in violation of community rules and that I had reported him. My comments were liberally flourished with cursing.

He told me not to swear at him, as he was a Christian. I replied: f*** you. He didn't respect my preference to not be shot at. I don't respect his preference not to be sworn at. Then he tries this wounded lamb routine saying that I am the one who is harassing him and I can't prove that he did anything. "You never saw me shoot anyone....", "You have no evidence." No? Just the evidence of being hit with a scripted object which triggers an automatic abuse report option as well as the ability to submit the chat log.

Furthermore, he claims to be chummy with one of the Lindens in an attempt to intimidate me. But, he doesn't realize he just put me in bitch mode. I tell him to call her now. He didn't.

I've received several abuse report update emails on the incident via email, confirming that my report has been received and is being investigated. But they don't really provide any real information that I want to know. And the Police Blotter does not yet list the incident.

I want this bastard suspended. Seven days. Nothing would give me greater pleasure right now.

Did you post a log with your AR? The Linden's frown on residents claiming to have official standing with them.

All in all, the best thing to do, is not to over-react. Observe, record and report.

Cory has a good point - the naming of names is a violation of the forum rules. Also, don't be surprised if the griefer gives you an AR for cursing at them as well.

And yes, this will probably not be the last time you will get harassed. It's one of the sad facts of Second Life.

A favorite tactic of mine against griefers is to quickly rez a cube and have a seat. Even their Ubah Hand O' Zeus 5000 can't knock you off that. Also, if you're on your land or over group land where you're an officer, you can 'freeze' them. I can tell you from firsthand experience, these punk ass griefers hate it when they see...

'Numa Herbst has frozen you for 30 seconds. You cannot move or interact with the world.'

I'm wondering if the midless argument is part of a new trend.

The last few griefers I had to deal with also seemed to get more enjoyment over the wounded lamb routine than the actual griefing.

Playing on your good nature, crying that they are "furries not griefers" or christians, all these have been a part of the latest attacks on the island I live on.

Thanks for the heads up. But what's done is done. Can't turn back the hands of time. It may be a rule, I now realize, but that's retarded. It's a factual event. Griefers and other such annoying entities should be forced to take ownership of their asenine behaviour.

It would be equally asinine to post a fake chat log. The only people that can say with absolute certainty if a chat log is real or faked is a Linden. Hence, the rule is in place to protect your ass as well as the griefers'.
