C'mon you aussies, stick up some aussie stuff that I can buy. We're in the process of doing an aussie pub which is called "the kookaburra" and is stuck up the top of a big gum tree... as the kids poem goes. And what beer have we got? Budweiser!?!!! A shame, isn't it. Real Aussies don't drink Bud... well, I reckon they'd drink any bloody thing as long as it says "beer" on it somewhere [all smells like pee to me anyway] And yes, we want more Aussie plants, bird noises, t-shirts, posters. I have been making my own stuff, uploading textures for that genuine gum tree [eucalyptus] look... ok there are linden gum trees, but I'd like something a bit different. Well you get the drift. You may have read about a science discussion in a relaxed and informal place well this is the place... we're nearly there, cross ya legs mate if ya can't hold on! Wolfie!

I may be able to make something. Does it need to be venomous or in some way deadly?

http://www.home.no/kedi/lyrics/come_to_australia.txtI love that song. I found a blue ringed octopus in a shell at the beach once, I wanted to keep it for a pet but Dad wouldn't let me. Mind you, I didn't know it was deadly at the time. Wolfie!

Rattlesnake. mmm If I were you, I'd phone Colonel Sanders right away oh crap, he's dead. He visited Australia once you know... seriously... and ate a weird Sydney thing called a Pie Floater, which I haven't tried cause I'm in another state. He liked it I heard. I sent a recipe book to a friend which contained items on witchetty grubs and Bogong moths. Said to taste a bit like hot chips [fries] and popcorn. Wolfie!

How about showing some different sides to Australia? Things that don't perpetuate the great outback myth, something like 95% of us live in urban areas, yet much of the world thinks we have kangaroos hopping down the main streets and corks on our hats.

Australia - the place I would like to visit most if I could travel the world.
My mother went there, though, and we had friends from there. (She did travel the world.) She brought back a digeridoo I cherish, several other decorative items, and also had a small but good library of Australian art and culture (which I recently inherited).
For International Day at Girl Scouts, I had my Brownie troop study and do a presentation on Australia, and we used some of these things in the display. As well, the girls made skeleton pictures (I forget what the official name of those are), and did posters and things depicting Australian geography and special geographical features.
I think the little things really did learn a lot from that; I know I did. Almost as good as getting to go there.

Believe me, I don't like chiches either and try to avoid them at all costs.
But I do love the country areas, I loathe city sprawl and all this new crap they're foisting on my city and calling it art.
I like "Australiana" old tin signs, a pretty old pub surrounded by gums... the quieter stuff.
The sim already features sounds of Bellbirds, which I don't think you'll hear anywhere else on SL.
Yeah... most of us do live in urban areas... but I'd rather not. I'm a cityboy with his heart in the country... sadly I'm stuck here.

As for those who offered help, just IM me about it sometime and I'll TP you over and perhaps you can suggest things. I am into mood, and the thing I find about pubs in most countries are that they are *made* by those who use them. You will see photos there of people who went there and gifts people bought, stuff from close friends, perhaps long gone. memorabillia. Now I don't drink, My personal use of pubs were about going there for a meal generally when interstate as the traditional menu in a good pub was generally well made and filling... which you need on a long trip. I want to get a postcard and upload as a picture... it's kind of cheeky... A map of Oz super-imposed over the US... same size According to this, if I were in the states then I'd be located in a place which is fearful of a major storm right now. I would like to wish everyone there [and their doggies and kitties] all the best and that the storm isn't a quarter as bad as Katrina. Wolfie!

I've only just started SL ('cause of the Linux client) and have spent more time in these forums than on Help Island so far.
I'm good with graphics and can help with your Aussie ideas once I get up to speed on the ins and outs of getting things done. I'll keep an eye out in the future.
How about an Uluru or Opera House or Harbour Bridge, all iconic Aussies too.
See ya round like a rissole...
