As a merchant in SL, I get a lot of IMs to Email every day. Lately, it seems, a good portion of those, mingled in with the requests and the questions, have been very positive comments from customers or just random SL residents. Whether it be about my own merchandise, Juro's wonderful build that I gratefully sell my wares from, or anything else, makes little difference. It's the thought that counts, and that someone took the time to make a positive comment. I try to respond personally to each positive comment or rating, but of course with IM-capping that may not always be possible. So, I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank those residents who take the time to respond positively to things in SL, and to let them know how much their comments really mean. It never fails to bring a smile to my face when I get to read something positive, especially when I've far too often not taken the time to stop and make those comments to other merchants or creators myself. It wasn't something you had to do, but you did it anyway, and you made my day by doing so. It makes the whole thing worth-while, moreso than the sales or the money or any other aspect. As PollyAnna as it may sound, (and anyone who knows me is probably wondering what drugs I'm on) I'd like to propose a rousing round of Thank Yous to the residents who let us know they appreciate our efforts. It makes a huge difference in 'job satisfaction' to hear your comments, and it gives me the desire to keep going. (And a very special Thank You to those who have donated through the Relay-For-Life kiosk at my store. Sansarya, you've gone above and beyond, and I promise to match each donation you make. Thank you!) ResMods... Please don't move this to notices. This is not just me thanking people, but a hope that others will also join in and 'spread the love.'

Quite so, Jonquille.
A few months back, I discovered that a customer of mine had dropped me a notecard containing a few paragraphs-worth of praise on my product. Not just a "hey, this is cool," which I always appreciate, but several thoughtful observations on the many details that made him enjoy my work. It was very gratifying to read.
I'm in business to make money, but the creation of my products is an activity that transcends balance sheets and sales trackers. My work is an expression of my imagination, my attention to detail, my need for polish, sophistication and ease of use. All of these things certainly translate into a very marketable product and I'm glad the market responds in the favorable way that it does. Even so, it's awesome to learn that my customers understand and appreciate the unique efforts and concerns that go into my product development. Getting that feedback is just as satisfying as reaping the fiscal rewards of my business.

Absolutely! I'm certainly not making a profit on The Particle Laboratory (the only thing I sell there are some no-copy particle textures). Every thank you helps makes the effort and expense worthwhile though. Thank you, people who say thank you! ( I guess that should be: You're Welcome! )

Indeed it is wonderful when you get comments form people that just want to say thank you or want to send some praise your way. It makes it all worth while. I too also respond to every IM although my ims rarely get caped cause im in world so much so most of the time they get the personal thank you or your welcome from me.

I try to sign in a few times a day so my messages don't get capped, but sometimes real life rears its ugly head and I can't. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who gets a good lift from the positive comments people make a point to leave. On their cue, I'm making it a personal promise to do the same, and leave more comments and/or ratings for people who have done things I appreciate, whether they're Commercial or Personal enterprises.

In 48 hours, Caledon's citizens and friends have donated over third of a million $L: over one thousand USD to the Relay For Life. Wow! It feels good to be a part of a positive vibe! If the future stays bright, the Relay For Life may be our big 'charity thing' every year.

From: Jonquille Noir On their cue, I'm making it a personal promise to do the same, and leave more comments and/or ratings for people who have done things I appreciate, whether they're Commercial or Personal enterprises. Always a good idea. Ever since I first came to SL, I've tried to reach out and praise every vendor who sells me a product whose quality goes above and beyond the norm. It's almost involuntary. It's so special to find amazing quality and I can't help but send along some words of encouragement to the few who exceed my expectations.

I call these "fan letters" (cause that's what they call them when I get them for an article), and they are what makes Second Life worth living regardless of what all else is going on! I sent a fan letter (with also a request) to someone named Daul for making something so cute I saw on SLExchange that I actually bought clothes for the first time! I wish they allowed comments on the New Products forum. The other night I saw a house on there (will put in who it was in a minute), and meant to comment on it to that person in world, but by the time I got in world I forgot the name. I'll get it now, though, and write it down this time. coco
**It was Hacienda House, by Scorpio Galatea.

From: Desmond Shang Yes, it's quite incredible how people can pull together, isn't it? In 48 hours, Caledon's citizens and friends have donated over third of a million $L: over one thousand USD to the Relay For Life. Wow! It feels good to be a part of a positive vibe! If the future stays bright, the Relay For Life may be our big 'charity thing' every year. My store is much smaller than your sim, of course, but the feeling of pride is no less intense. (Thank you, Gala Phoenix, for your generous contribution tonight! I'll be matching that as well. ] I fully believe that positivity breeds positivity, and positive reinforcement will breed likewise. I've lost 3 beloved relatives, (My grandmother, my mother, and my 15-month old niece) to Cancer, and it's been so very scarring every time, especially so with my niece. (My Special K, Kyra Annalise.) Each donation, each vow, each time someone pays attention and takes that thought with them into the real world, is another tiny victory in the war against this terrible, terrible fate.) I don't want to see anyone as I saw my mother or my niece. I want to see success stories who survived and spread that hope to others. That's why I'll match any donations made for Relay For Life through my store. You don't have to buy anything from my store to donate, simply donate through the kiosk available. It means enough to me to give up all personal sales and gain. Just donate.
