Apologies for the cross-post to those who already saw this in the NWN forum but I think this merits reposting:

If every user had the capability to keep their own "black list", land grief like this would eventually be rendered mute. All a user would have to do is right click on an object and choose an option like "block textures". It would add the owner of that object to a personal black list. Every time an item owned by a black-listed user appeared, the textures could be greyed out or transparent. Simple.
The griefers can "express themselves" all they want and those who dislike it can choose not to be able to see it. I figure we should treat spam like, well, spam.
Anyone else agree this might be the right approach for LL?
If you agree with this idea, I have added this as a feature proposal that you can vote on here:

This is basically how unwanted pop-ups are already dealt with on the WWW.

Why not just change the existing validation.

Change the ban list validation on land parcels to say

I ban this person and any item owned by this person from my land
Any item then appearing by the offender on your land is simply returned to them.

No messy updates about blanking out textures and leaving the object - just get rid of it.

This is what alot of people are asking and it only makes sence. Something I'd like to see, as it wouldn't require a major update either, is for the land sale tools to reconise the ban list and prevent people in that list from purchasing your parcel.

That would make no difference in the current situation. He isn't putting them on other peoples' land, he's putting them on his own. You can set your land to No Build or Auto-Return and it would have the same affect.

The problem under discussion is not whether certain avatars and their objects are within a parel's boundaries.

The problem the thread starter describes concerns the visibility of textures.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but how does this help in the current situation. The Impeach Bush signs are on land owned by the creator. You can ban those signs from your land all you want but the signage is still highly visible from the the owner's legitimate land. Am I missing something?
