Will closing the forums allow Linden Lab to spend more time developing SL's software?
If so, let's wave bye to the forums!
Otoh, remember "joints?" They were removed from the client with the promise that their removal would allow Linden Lab to spend more time integrating a new physics engine into SL.
The new physics engine has never arrived.

no forums = more development time for SL software + less user input-- input that often shapes the development of the software to begin with. It's a mixed blessing. Honestly, bitching works, and the more people you can get to join in, the better. It's a valuable tool in the customers very limited arsenal. If LL can't take the occasional rabid resident, then I feel its a definate sign of unprofessionalism.
However, I won't at all miss the people that use the SL forms as some sort of rostrum of morality to spout their nonsensical rhetoric.
