The servers aren't of course.

But...you get get your (hopefully) fixes to the horrible rendering problems and inventory problems hot off the update server right now.

Well, if I recall correctly, this was a server shutdown that was scheduled. So while it is still humorous, they actually did warn us about this one. :)

I think you mistake me. I'm in no way questioning why the servers are down....I'm well aware of this update as I've been bugging Linden Labs about the bugs from last weeks patch almost daily.

I'm just wanting them to come back up soon so I can see if the bugs that have affected me and my business personally have been resolved.

Installed the update already. The install screen mentions inventory and LoD (YAY!) bug fixes.

Bug fixes:
* Clearing inventory search keeps the current item/folder selected
* Receiving or moving inventory no longer expands all folders
* Searching under All Items only shows folders containing items searched for, by default
* Adjusted LOD based on resident feedback
* Added additional octree toggles in the Debug menu
* Fixed a performance issue cause by texture paging
* F1 Help no longer crashes on the PowerPC Mac in fullscreen mode
* Fixed an issue with the Mac autoupdate utility
* Resolved a simulator crash related to scripts
* Resolved a client crash issue

Linux client alpha fixes:
* Resolved a bug with inventory searches failing
* "L$" appears correctly in front of the L$ balance
* Accelerator (shortcut) keys should work correctly

would these rendering issues your having, would they be the ones related to switching clothes and it not working the way it should?

Not specifically, my hot issue was the LOD bug in regards to prims. The inventory issues were pretty maddening as well, but the LOD errors in regards to prims put an abrupt halt to the momentum of a new release of my flagship product.

As you can imagine...I was quite perturbed.

One thing I can predict - the list of bugs introduced by the above 'fixes' will be a good deal longer than the 'fixes' list...

Still, as long as there isn't too much unrequested shiny™ included it shouldn't be too bad.

Right now if even just LOD and the prims going invisible on me (you can still bump into them) are fixed. I'm happy.

Those two are my immediate irritations. I mean how does one build stuff when you can't click on the prim but you know it's there, the client knows it's there, but it's not appearing even on wireframe mode?

It mentions, in this new update we need a new viewer to play..what is this viewer? They never said what viewer is needed....I for one would like to know..so if anyone out there knows what they are talking about please let me know.

Nothing to worry about, Traci. The "viewer" in question is the client itself that's installed on your computer. Basically, all you need to do is try to log into SL. It'll detect that you need an updated version and mention in the note that it's a required update (in this case. There are times when you don't have to update to continue playing in the world).

So all you need to do is upate your software like that and there you go. You have the correct "viewer".

Well, you're luckier than me. I still can't get in, and get that and other error messages, and no prompts for downloading the new client.

I guess I'll never get into SL again. Sniff. Goodbye everyone. I donate all the proceeds from my now abandoned business to the Frank Burns Memorial Brothel. I'm off to kill myself now by trying to load Windows Vesta Beta 2 on a Mac G3.

*fireworks*

LOD better now, back to what it was like when I was new, more or less. Thanks LL.

I'm still watching to see if prims still disappear.
