Maybe it's land right next to a hub and on a road... but even so, it's still 10x what it should be. Maybe the bidders thought the were bidding in L$ rather than US$. hmmm
I have a 1024 in Selby on the road... bids? lol

Based on the current exchange rate (L$263 = US$1) at the LindeX that's L$583,346 (US$2,223) for the parcel you mentioned. Or a little over L$112 per square meter. Off the top of my head I'd guess the high bidder(s) thought they were placing their auction bid in Linden dollars, not US dollars.

Oh maaaaaaaans....I can imagine the sinking feeling in that person's gut when they realized all that cash was coming out of their credit card and not their $L balance.

Looks more like bidding for a whole sim, excluding the bids under $1000.

Maybe they can take it back to the store and exchange it for a larger size since this one is too small.

Is there any way to contact the bidder and let them know. If I were the seller, I'd certainly set them straight.

The seller is LL themselves sweet pea, and I'm pretty sure they state somewhere to check what currency you're bidding with...but I'm not sure if they let people off the hook if they goof up or just decide they don't want to buy the plot. I haven't bought land at auction in like a gazillion years so I'm not up on what LL will or won't let you get away with. Anybody know?

On previous occasions such as this one where an obvious err in bidding has occurred, a new auction was set for the parcel.

Yes, this has happened before, in fact several times before and I am pretty sure that the bidder is let off the hook persay. MJ Edit: Marg beat me to it hehe

That fee hasn't been applied in this type of situation due to the inflated amount of the service fee I'm sure. The fee is meant to deter occasions of auction winners having second thoughts.
