Prim Limits?

I have seen references to limits on the number of prims you can use to build objects especially for building on owned land, but never any specific numbers. I am curious specifically about how many prims you can attach to your avatar, or at least a frame of reference for what would be considered an extensive use of prims. Not intending to build a massively primmed out av, just curious, TY

You can have 255 (linked) on each attachment point...so you can have alot!!

I would not do it, as you would lag everyone (probally)..but you can :)

255 is the max size any linked object can be (made of 255 prims, joined)

At the moment, for most sims, it's 0.2288818359375 prims per square meter of land you own. So, if you have 512 meters, you can rez 117 prims. 1024 meters gets you 234 prims.... etc. :)

I really wish you'd be a little more exacting. This deliberate vagueness is a bit disconcerting.

prim limit applies to land, not your av. The 117 prim limit for a 512 m2 parcel applies to prim rezzed on the land. What you wear isn't considered rezzed on land.

Total newb here...so go easy on me.

So, if I rez my limit of prims, and 25 people show up at my place, I won't get lag? I thought I read somewhere that there should be an allowance of prim set aside for visitors.

True enough, but before you can wear it, someone has to build it.

I heard that once Havoc 2 comes on line, the numbers will triple (Lets hope the requirements don't change)

To be more exact, the number is (meters2 of land owned)*15000/65536 with all decimal places truncated off.

Er. The lag you're most likely referring to is client lag, and is a direct result of how many people you have milling around + their attachments. IE, your video card is the culprit, not ther prims themselves.

Thanks. Good to see a fellow Michigander.

I guess the question really is this: how many prims should I keep 'on reserve' for people. Let's say I want to open a dance club or mall, how many prims would 100 people being there at the same time utilize (a generalization of course)?

I would imagine that the planning formula then becomes total prim allowance, less people allowance, equals the amount of prim I have for building, etc..

0. Attachments on an av don't go against your "reserve".
