Hey all, I'm new to the board, and to be completely honest, I just signed up for my SL account yesterday, so I haven't even started playing yet! So I know this question is probably light-years ahead of what I will be getting into when I start playing the game, but what the heck, I'll ask anyway.
I read that you can stream music in certain areas, and was wondering if the same was possible with video. Say for instance if I bought some land, and built a "theater" where people could come, and watch a movie of my choice that I had playing at the time. I could be streaming it from my server, and then start a movie theater, and play movies at scheduled times that people could come and watch. I don't know about playing it on a "screen" per-se, I really can't imagine how it would be done yet, but I thought it would be something fun for people in the SL world to get together and do. You could go to a movie with your buddies, chat during it, all sorts of stuff. Has this been done? If not, does anyone see the possibility of it being done?
Anyway, can't wait to get in the game and start exploring. Thanks!

 Movie theaters huh? hmmm, let me see.... Yep, there are a few of them about. If you want to stream from your own server them it needs to be a mac or something as SL currently only supports quicktime streaming. However I'm told there are plenty of places on the web that will stream for you if you ask nicely. _____________________

use find and search apollo theater, they show several movies daily (some porn, some new releases)

Hi Surina! Thanks for the reply. Well, it wouldn't be streaming from my own server, I currently pay for some web hosting that I might be able to use. It's a Linux server, but I haven't ever really streamed video before so I have to do some research as to how to do it. But that's nice to know there are some out there. Then maybe I could learn how to do it. I think it would be fun.
