"Faster" can mean so many things when referring to a database system that there's no way we can reasonably speculate what they mean. It won't matter how much backend work they do if the colo is capping its available bandwidth or hosing their internal routing. I'm convinced that one of the two has been true lately.

Actually that's a little white lie. They are just moving your stuff to a different server, not a faster one. They moved from central inventory storage to a distributed system after that incident where people could not log in for days in a row  |
