Hi there, As you might notice I haven't been on SL for a very long time (even if I have followed the evolution with some friends that played it), but one thing amazes me ... SL is REALLY a mirror of reality ... As in RL finding nice male clothes is a pain, and even worst in SL finding a good male hair cut is not even a pain ... it's finding the lost arch ! (unless I am crap at using the finding tab lol) As a fashion victim it's a real torture to me when in a 3 or 4 hours shopping run I barely find 2 wearable outfits for male thrown in a dark and dusty corner, almost fully hidden by the thousands of female clothes taking all the space. I am not that good at making clothes (even if my friends are too nice to say it lol), I am better at cutting and torturing prims ... but for men's solidarity I decided to start working on male clothes as much as possible. ! Anyway, I just wanted to ask fellow guys where they get dressed, or if they know a good hairdresser because I can barelly satisfy my shopping addiction and I always start shaking after a few hours of privation

Clothing is real challenge...There is a mall dedicated to men... but clothing seems to be on the bottom of the list there... you can also check the shop called...um... Gecko, I think it's called, though they seemed to have more skins than clothes. Also, if you look for Unisex clothing, a lot of the stuff there is right for men but the designers didn't want to miss out on the female market.
As for hair, unless you have facial hair that is not part of a "skin", then I wholeheartedly recommend Robin Wood's Shop in Benten. Look for it by name. It's right next to the texture tutorial. She has two styles of men's hair that are fantastic, and it comes in a number of different colors. The txture and Highlights are amazing, and the best part about her hair is that it is made with texture applied to the normal hair template, so it's "no prm" for the regular short haircut and I think the ponytail has 2 or maybe 3 prims. You should definitely check it out. Robin also makes the BEST Hawaiian Shirts...with no texture join lines or anything. Very nice work.

depends on your sense of style. Barnesworth Anubis makes some nice things, which you can find in his store or in the Figments store in Aqua - barnes has made the first classy prim shoes that I really love (if you want boots or sneakers there are more options out there, such as Aimee Weber's docs). Nylon Pinkney has a few cool men's things if you like the arty hand-drawn look -- I think they are in her Miramare shop. Also in Aqua is Beryl Greenacre's store which is full of menswear. I make a few suits (which totally have to be redone as I hate them now), as do Fey Brightwillow and Shiryu Musashi and a few others. Jonquille Noir makes casual clothes for guys. DoC Eldritch makes real rock n roller clothes if that's your thing. Nephaline has some interesting things at pixel dolls.
I've left a million people out but these are just some off the top of my head.
Men's clothes and hair has a ways to go, but man has it come a long way in the last 6 months!

True, the market for mens clothes is much reduced compared to those for the female market. I fret over this as well. I think for now the gap can be lessened with the increase of unisex clothes, but that's not really a solution. My major beef though is not the lack of male clothing. It's the generalization that men all want to be the incredible hulk. Searching for male skins (which I dont do often, considering how my appearance is in SL ) usually turns up skins with either way too much body hair in the private areas, or painted on muscles which are detrimental to those of us who want a skinnier look. And although female clothing has many many varieties in SL, with mens' clothing it tends to be either suits, skater outfits (dont want to generalize, but that's what I call the band shirts and spikey stuff), or goth clothing. I'm not sure why this is, but it could just be the market for them. I mean, people dont go to clubs dressed in a cardigan and a pair of slacks. Just my two cents.

Also try DE Designs for mens clothes. Doc Eldritch's store is divided 50/50 between men and women's clothing. He also has mens skins and shoes. For hair, try Totally Hair. I don't know where the main store is, but there is one at my shopping center in Fudo. Its called City Walk or check my in world profile in the picks section. But you are soooo right. The men's clothes, shoes and hair are hard items to find. Good luck

thanks so much for the answers ... and yes Forseti I'm more into goth/rock clothes but I don't mind being classy sometimes. I am not a hulk or a bodybuilder, just an average guy (perhaps a bit taller than others hehe) Anyway I will check those shops so thanks very much for the adresses, I will also put some of my stuff for sale one day (for the moment I only have a few shirts and boxers but will increase my stock soon) and who knows ... perhaps one day I'll be a male clothes baron

I agree there's tons and tons more for women than men but I have seen some really good stuff you might have missed..
Try Mischief, Lil Rebel and Here Comes Trouble for men's fashions as well. For hair, definitely Robin Wood's ponytail is fantastic and while Lashed doesn't have as many men's styles, as there are women's, there are some good ones you shouldn't miss.
Shoe's Forseti mentioned great ones. I'll add Heart's Desire to the list of great men's boots.
Happy shopping and good luck getting more men's stuff out there!

I hardly find SL to be a mirror of RL in this regard, finding decent women clothes where I live is soooo hard, everything's cheap shite not even worth a tenth of the (already low) price, while men's lcothes are simple, classy and comes at three for the price of two  And let's not talk about SHOES.

Check out Launa Fauna's skins they are nicely made and in no way remind me of the governator

I shop Vindi for suits. They are totally classy.
I did find some decent prim dress shoes, can't remember who now, only problem is for some reason people keep making prim shoes no mod. But with a little pos/rot adjustment and black socks, it worked out ok. I despise non prim shoes, they look so lame.
Decent men's clothese are hard to find. For some reason people think we all want to look like gangsta's & pimps. So when i actually find a men's section, i'm usually disappointed.

There is a mens clothing store next to my store No Mercy. I dont know the name of it but if you go to No Mercy (in Degar), the mens clothing store is next to it just across the river.

'L & F and Gecko'. E City. You must go there, the male clothing gods command you.
Pretty much the best male clothes that won't leave you looking like either a reject from the matrix, or a leather biker daddy (or both). There's even a huge freebie selection. Heck, for that matter, I'd suggest any male avatar go there immediately on first leaving orientation island, just for the free clothes of goodness.

Manhunt Mall in Funadama has a large selection of male clothing and accessories by a number of different designers.

PixelDolls has a nice section full of men's clothing. And I have to mention Nevermore, even if most of their stuff is for women... I just love that shop. ^_^ And they do have some pants and things for guys. Oh and I also command all newbies to visit L&F and Gecko. In mere minutes you can look like an individual and not a generic newbie. Now, if only they'd set their vendors to "give contents" instead of "give copy", I hate having to unpack things...

Manhunt Mall

The biggest mall for male clothes in SL is ManHunt. The mall has expanded from a few vendors in July to nearly 80 now. It offers everything from kilts to suits, T shirts to jeans, hair, skins and much much more. While you guys are shopping there, the girlfriend can go next door to Girlhunt.

Little Rebel Designs in Gallinas

Little Rebel in Gallinas makes some great men's clothes. As with her women's clothes they are classy and not all geared to the "pimps and gangstas" as someone mentioned earlier. Not that there is anything wrong with that look but it's sure a nice change.
*hugs*

I've had similar problems. I found two clothing shops which do great work: Osprey Therian { Bodega (210,83)} has amazing fantasy and sci-fi work nearing photo-realistic. And for more pedestrian tastes, there's Swell Second Life { Miramare (90,61). The clothese there are also well drawn, well priced, and in a great variety of styles. Not all goth and vampire and leather club bling. I've also thrown my hat in the ring regarding men's designs. I don't much go in for shoes and jewelry but skins and clothing and such rarely met my tastes. My shop in Everlite, Serpent & Thistle, will feature the men's designs i create. Men shop too
