Tempreal is a collection of teacher and student journal entries reflecting an early adopter's attempt to teach a course for the University at Buffalo using the There and Second Life platforms as they existed Spring semester of 2004. It's rather fascinating to read from both sides of the podium.

From: Tempreal For the development of an anti-bush art project/statement within SecondLife. Applicant can apply via email to grant@elmwoodstrip.com. Please list your budget and how you plan to spend it, along with a proposal for the project that is ~500 words. Heh. I thought people did this for free.

Surely that was a joke and the Bush guy wasn't funded by an educational institution. That would be wrong. The page doesn't load properly for me now; I have to click the right-handed link to Tempreal's journal after I get there.
Seems the class didn't go very smoothly. They do still own land in Slate so maybe the instructor is planning another attempt one day. Wonder if the school is paying for the tier?

I remember back in the day some college held a class inside SL. They were all assigned a special surname by LL and the class was held on land neighboring mine in Mauve. This was back when there was an actual SL Instructor's group that coordinated with LL for the scheduling and content of classes.
They all attended a building class conducted by an SL member Instructor who tried to walk them through prim creation & editing. Since my land neighbored the class area I was able to watch.
The class started smoothly with the students and teachers silently following the instructor's lesson on prim creation 101. Once the class caught on, however, all hell broke loose. Prims appeared on heads. Students started moving and jumping around. Clothes disappeared. Huge prims bearing garish colors and the American Flag were everywhere, blocking the view and stopping the instructor from her demonstration. Curse words were used in open chat with giggles.
Interestingly, soon the college professors who were attending began playing too, and it became impossible to tell them apart from the students.
It was the most entertaining college class I have ever audited.
