in the Burning Life exhibit in the first year? The drums were stacked high and multiple participants could enteract in the drum circle. For the life of me I can't remember the creater of the exhibit, but I am interested in talking with them about a future project....it was a wonderful experience and I am interested in having it recreated at Belle Feu for another run....
You insight and help is appreciated.

Hiya Liv, that was done by Ace Cassidy who has left SL. That display later became the Tribal Drum circle in Epimetheus where I was his host for nightly events for several months. I have the Tribal Drums setup in my inventory, IM me in world and we can talk and see what you have in mind.

Good times, Leck. That was my SL childhood, growing up on those drums.

Yeah - it was good times I miss the tribal drum circles, it was one of the few party type social events that I went to in SL.
I miss Ace.

That drum circle at Burning Life was amazing... I met some very cool people there. I miss Ace too... I miss watching him dancing in that buffalo headdress with the sounds added to it. Those were the days.

Sadly, drum circle events do not seem to draw as much of a crowd lately. We held a drum circle event (~DRUMTHULHU!~) on Sunday and some Wednesday nights for awhile and not too many people show up.
We have the elf drums set up at our drum circle (I forget who the creator is) at Fhtagn Point (Tavarua 30,46), and I'm working on our own drums, if ever there's interest again.

Yeah, those were good times. On that note, does anybody still have the little token I made? Little gold coin with a burning guy on it?

Robbie Dingo does the Elf drums and many other cool interactive instruments. Impromptu drums circles happen in ElvenGlen periodically. Great time if you can get a number of people together.

From: Sansarya Caligari We also have a set of tribal drums set up at Pierce (111,12) that Ace did before he left SL. Feel free to drop by and play them Slight Correction The drums we have at Mars Hotel in Pierce are Aces script keeping things in sync, but lilone Sandgrain made the psychedelic designs and textures to contain the beats we thank lilone for keeping Aces drums thumping, and miss Ace. The original plan was for Ace to make us a custom set, but lilone stepped in to get us the drums when Ace could not =( and we have tried to have drum circle events as well, but we have no "ingo", no money balls, chairs, raffles, nor any escorts. We have a dozen drums and I beleive the record was 9 people playing at one time. Maybe we will will try again soon to bring the community together to pound the skins

It is time to bring them back...
11-30-2005 11:31
Thanks for all the information everyone. I have been talking to people in world and I think bringing the drums back ....at least for a limited run at Belle Feu Nouveau is very doable. It is an open-air/outdoor venue and can be adapted to keep the spirit of the original events. I will keep everyone posted on the progress through the forums. Please IM me in world if you have any additional information or would like to help.
Thanks to Lecktor Hannibal for being particularly helpful with providing information on the origin of the drums circles etc.....

Tribal Drumming was a good time while it lasted. I definitely recommend Robbie Dingo's drums these days.
The popularity of the old drumming events relied a lot on LL event funding to bring in new people, which kept it a vibrant atmosphere for regulars even if they weren't looking for the L$ handout.

Robbie Dingo's drums
11-30-2005 12:28
Robbie Dingo makes some of Second Life's most amazing musical instruments, including several drums that are built for group play.
You can try to contact him directly or you can also find some of his drums in the Games2 sim.

Ace was one of the first people I met in Second Life. Maybe we could have a big drum session to honor Ace.

Osprey...I agree

Almost everyone I talk to to about the drums agrees that Ace originated some of the first drums in SL...I think it would be only fitting to honor him that way. If you are interested in helping please contact me in world.
Many thanks....to you and everyone for your comments. I will be checking out all of the drum sites mentioned...

Nocturnal Rythms

I have a drum circle group Nocturnal Rythms - IM me in world for a group invite so you can be notified when we gather.
I hold impromptu drum circles at my store and recently organized the kick off event for FFRC where we had a large circle in Winn Park in Akasha. This event got me thinking and I have discussed holding drum circles occasionally within SL. I have a couple of land owners interested in having us come out. No fees. I'm not promoting my business or anything else. I only ask that Robbie can put up a vendor for the day of event for loaning out a kit or two and to simply thank him for his unbelievable creations. As for their not being an interest, I beg to differ. I started this for the hell of it, because I find the drums hypnotic and spirit moving and can't believe the response I have had. I put them in my shop cuz they were to damn good to keep hidden at my house and I wanted to share them.
Robbie Dingo's shop is called simply Musical Instruments and is in my profile picks.
love and light kaia

Sorry I missed this, looks like you had a nice turnout and lots of fun. I remember the drum circles from my newbie days. Not sure why the event fess had an ecct on having them or not. I didnt recall theer being prizes or moneys handed out, just people getting together some playing on the drums and some dancing. Would love to see others bring it back
