Hi,

Few questions which are really getting to me because i cant figure them out, i've read the forums, read lots of sites, talked to people but still not 100% sure and I really want to be sure ;-)

1) sim is the same as a region and a region is a full square when looking at the map?

2) I understand how to make animations for the avatar, how to make objects etc but how do people make animated objects? for example I've just looked at a cup which had fire and bubbles coming from it, I looked in edit/content and it only had a script, cant see in the script to see anything but hows it done? a texture then animation script? but if it were bubbles, i can see the texture but how on earth could a script make a plain texture look like random bubbles? hows it done ;-)

3) Does anyone know where i can buy splashable water scripts/animations?

Many thanks,
Andy

Yup. That's the part of SL that gets simulated on a CPU somewhere in the LL server room. Some limits are per-sim, when the hardware is overloaded the whole sim becomes slow, and if it crashes, all of it will go down.

You need to do a script for that, using llParticleSystem. See this page, which includes links to a few examples:
http://secondlife.com/badgeo/wakka.php?wakka=llParticleSystem

There are tools available to make the process easier.

There are also classes you can take to learn how to create a particle script, a water texture, etc. You can find classes on the daily events list.

If you really want to learn how particles are done in SL, go the the Particle Laboratory. You can learn all about them there, and there are several really good freebie scripts there you can look at and use.

(you can find it in the Places tab of the Find tool)
