I logged in and after 20 minutes my entire avatar was still grey, the textures of my house were all the grey cloudy stuff and I couldn't walk anywhere but in place...is this part of the problems with 1.7?? any advice for getting around them? SL is useless to me in this way!

SL is useless to me in this way! As far as the avatar goes, I've heard that if you fly straight up, as high as you can go, the textures on your av will fix. Texture loading is a pretty big issue. I think it's a combination of the asset server being busy and a problem they mentioned with the virtual filesystem (VFS) running out of memory to store textures on some sims that have zillions of textures, and having to dump some textures and then reload them from the asset server in a continuous loop.

1.7 was thrust into the system over a week ago and yet we are still dealing with severe lag issues across the grid. It seems no matter what LL does everything they do creates or sheds light on a lot more problems. And thus far it's been pretty consistant that every time they "update" the grid with patches as "major" as 1.7 something gets completely screwed up.
The fact that this has been a reoccuring problem says to me that they really don't give a rats patootie how we, the customers, feel about it. We should just take what we're givenand like it yes?
Before 1.7 I had limited issues with SL. Now, much like many other residents out there, it's daily to log on now and have some problem...that's IF you can log on AT ALL.
I want to know when this is going to be "fixed"? And by "fixed" I don't mean some stupid ass pie charts, graphs and lame explanations to show all of us exactly how NOT FIXED your product is but I mean fixed. User-friendly.
Has the notion of doing things in SL for a profit, running a business here I mean, has that been thrown out of the window? I can't imagine how we can effectively open or operate a business under these conditions.
How is anyone supposed to be able to shop at our stores? How is anyone supposed to enjoy swimming through the sea of lag and sim crashes this "fantastic" patch called 1.7 has blessed us all with?
I think we've been pretty patient but I also think everything I've said above will fall on deaf ears.
Ah well, at least I got it off my chest. *kicks the soap box through a window at Linden Labs*
