There are RL schools that have set up shop in SL as well as schools for building and scripting.

I liked the one session I spent at, the strangly named, teazers(sp?) university.
The teach building in SL.

There is also a RL univeristy with a sim for online students and anyone intrested.

If you wish to learn to build things the Ivory Tower of Primatives cannot be beat and you don't have to wait for a class. You can pop in anytime and learn at your own pace.

Events listing - Education

If you want to learn to make a variety of builds in game, I strongly recommend taking a class at any local schools. They are fun, varied, a teacher is there all the time to guide you, you can ask for help, and make many new friends while building and learning new things.

Just go to "search" in-world, choose tab "Events", choose category "Education" and it gives you all the classes that are to be given at or around the time you made the search. Then just teleport (button on the notice), usually to the lobby of the school, and they will tell you where the class is held.

Ivory towers is cool, but if you really want to enjoy the experience, I suggest take a class
