Do you know how much I've learned from the forums?!?!? Question directed to LL for what I understand to be the death of the forums due to the fact of that the forums are unmanageable. How are they unmanageable? That's like a "because" word for kids.
I have received so much goodness here in the forums I can't even count but here's a few: alpha texture help, scripting help (believe me I needed it) and TONS of help making clothing with templates and tutorials. LL was helpful at providing some content for that  but a blog??? I love my fellow SL'ians for all the great support I received via the forums. How will I get that from a BLOG??? A BLOG?!?! |

The content creation forums aren't scheduled for closure. This includes the design forum, which would be the place to go for help with alpha textures and clothing, and the scripting tips and scripting library, where you would go for help with scripting. _____________________

what are alpha textures? For SL purposes, the alpha channel is where the transparency information is stored in the files used to make clothing and textures for objects. SL resident Chosen Few has an excellent sticky on the subject in the design forum at /109/32/80851/1.html You can make an object transparent by applying a texture that has 100 percent transparency stored in the alpha channel. I will send you one, it's called AlphaTexture. Supposedly we will be getting some better "asynchronous" communication features in-world before too long. Also there are the places listed in my signature, among others. One would expect the volume to pick up at these other forums when the discussion forums here close. _____________________

SEE!!! Just look at the few posts to this already! A wealth of information and fellow SL'ians helping each other out constantly! SuezanneC Baskerville YOU ROCK! Dang ya beat me to answering the alpha texture question.
I've taken far more from the forums than I've given but I've found so many knowledgeable people in here. Ya gotta be fast to answer!  I've been reading the blogs and I can't see what they can offer that the forums can't. |
