I spend 3 months building a game, I have a sim full of people.....mining, working, fishing, farming.. I'm scripting away... AND THEN BANG
We're all kicked out! Now I understand... we're having problems..... but how about 5 minutes warning! or even 2 minutes, in fact a 30 second warning.. "RUN TO THE HILLS"...
I work in IT I know servers go bang and things go whizz all I ask for is...
a) SORRY WAS NOT US we didn't mean to do it / wasn't our fault or b) In 1 minute we're shutting down for a reboot (after 10 years in IT I know a reboot sorts 99/100 problems I spend 5 years at a Uni to learn this!)
please am I alone... anyone else at their wits end?

We're all kicked out! Now correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldnt it be wise to postpone all major events until after a major update has been loaded, like say a week or so. Better yet, trying to do anything of any majoe importance during an update week is just asking for trouble. As for "my" wits end, not close yet. I have been in enough VR worlds to know that this is nothing like a normal website or database, also that during update "seasons" as I call them, is the best time to do nothing of any importance, else you're asking for trouble. Now if my entire sim had poofed, and come back empty (and there was no hope of a roll back) I would be pissed. But the best thing to do now, is to sit back, and wait for everything to return to "normal." - Sam

Sam that's the problem he runs a sim like Dark Life called Minerva. I'm not sure if he is reffering to any "events" being hosted as there are not many as of yet but the sim runs 24/7 as a game. I think he is reffering to the sim crashes that booted people on and off throughout the last few days. It's caused alot of headache in the game as sudden reboots cause scripts to reset, etc. At times there can be as many as 20-30 players in the sim for easily 3 hours of work...imagine loosing three hours of work. Now imagine hearing 20 - 30 people asking if they can get compensated for losing said three hours of work.

Well as I see your situation is more advanced then just an "event" I wont comment further. I do wish you luck in getting everything back together and straightened out, just as the Lindens are doing. I will say if anyone else has planned a normal major event during a update week, please refer to my thoughts above before complaining too loudly. - Sam
