There's a lot of talk about anti griefer systems and ways of dealing with the problem.
but could it be this simple?

When you make an object, whether it be an item or avatar, could there be an anti-push
option under the "general" tab when you go to edit?

Which is always available for the *owner* of the object to switch on or off,
whether the object is made "non mod" or not?

Therefore, if you have an avatar on "non push" then you simply don't get pushed,
if you have everything set to that in your sim, then all you get is pretty colours,
a bit of lag and a few nasty words from people who ought to have L tattooed on their
heads.

Nothing harder needs to be done really.

If the item needs to be non push then, no probs.

Objects are already non-push by default. You have to enable "Physical" for them to be pushed. Avatars are not created, therefore they have no general tab. They are physics enabled. Even with "Push" deactivated at the Parcel level, they are still pushed through collisions, much the same way as when two avatars walk into each other.

"Why not deactivate physics on avatars then?" you may ask. It might be possible, but I'm more confident it would have more wide ranging systematic issues.

Oh I sure do love the push restriction. I live next to a newbie sandbox. They come and try to orbit/shoot me, but I have push restriction on. I just whip out my orbiter and send them flying!

Also, if they try to cage me (which will work even in a push restriction area) I just click a freeze button on my HUD so I stop moving, then I freeze them on my land. I then whip out my orbiter. I freeze them again, because by now the old freeze would be timing out, then I give them a quick lecture why doing this is bad. I give them the option to leave, or I orbit them after I turn on my damage enabled.

It's great! :D

Push restrictions are wonderful. They have releived a lot of stress. However they cannot prevent other types of griefing. But here are ways to counter them, and following it with a abuse report just incase a linden actually does read them anymore...

Caging: Can be avoided by wearing a shield you buy off SLExchange like Protec. I know it's helped me. Or you can use a Non Physical Movement Prim to sit on like the one i give away.

Sound spam: Can be avoided by muting them the first time they spam you.

Non Consentual Collisions: Can be avoided by using Non Physical Movement or a protec shield.

Rezzing: Can be avoided by setting the land to no build or turning on autoreturn to 1 minute.

Laggy scripts: Can be avoided by turning off scripts. (In public sims/parcels that own malls this is not a option unless you don't want your vendors to work anymore).

Harrasment: Can be avoided by muting them.
