Amongst the expanding sims of the North Continent I noticed a couple of bristlingly new sims yesterday. I recommend anyone who can to visit Tyta and determine the nature of the extraordinary wall strung along it to the edge of the world*. What is the ancient civilisation represented by the hut on top of it - with horns? Do they represent the Minoan bulls (my guess as the sim next to it is Minoa) or, as a friend of mine suggested, are they a tribute to the Vikings?

*Addendum - today I can see the wall has grown considerably!

I just checked this out myself. Very interesting, with a couple of surprises here and there. I made a quickie Snapzilla album from what I found:

The Great Northern Wall

Good of ya to start this thread, Garnet, and cool tour, Sean. I'm headed up there meself to see what's going on. Whoa, this must have been pretty recent, because when I last checked yesterday there was a big gap.

I'm hoping for more storyline from Magellan Linden... he's been in absentia for awhile! :(

Maybe the beasts of this new place are of savage varieties, and devoured him and picked his bones clean ohnoes!

It'd be funny to see a nod back to Primatars or something.

There uh was a moth kind of theme running through the beginning of the Atoll (the northern continent)... maybe it continues the mythology?

Hehehe... get a load of these regions:

Ribeata (RIB EATER?)
Ziczac (PADDYWACK? GIVE A DOG A BONE?)
Sinica (not to be confused with Seneca)

They're still using moth names. If you google for ribeata, for instance, you get this:

Most Excellent! Lovely texture.

Inside the wall is another interior walkway with lit walls ...

I wonder who the invaders were ?

I just did some checking, and 'ziczac' is apparently part of the name of a type of shell --'Pecten Ziczac,' a sort of sand scallop.

See, SL isn't just fun, it's also educational!

I seem to remember 'ZicZac' with a different spelling as also being the name of the evil corporation in that old Max Headroom TV series that made blipverts, but I guess that's just a wierd coincidence. :D

Sweet. I've been very curious what was going to appear up that slope, and it's something very cool :) I attached a couple of renders of the terrain up there. You can see that the wall runs along a high ridge beside a steep drop into a water channel. Unless I got confused about directions, it seems like those defending the wall would have their backs to the water. Maybe they kept their ships down there in that natural harbor. I also attached a pic with me in it to better show the scale of the wall. I'm the tiny figure behind the tower parapet.

I just did a quick measurement and calculation and it looks like the wall is currently 1.45 miles long, give or take.

If you like rivers, waterfalls, bays and misty cliffs, I recommend checking out the newer sims in the north. The region up there is pretty neat. I didn't notice more Wall.
