I don't truly agree with either option.

I think the real issue is that Phillip is so eager to prove his vision of the 3D web metaverse, that he is willing to risk falling on his face totally by jumping ahead to stages of the vision that are not here yet and that people are not prepared for. These jumps have been coming faster and faster recently and I think DO suggest a fundamental change in his views. But I don't think it is directly or even indirectly because of the community. In fact, I think he rarely thinks in such terms. It's all about the vision and making doubters see it.

Change in verification, move to put age verfiying in resident hands, refusal to deal with issues of IP theft, and many other recent changes, as well as his own speeches and blogs point to his desire to rush ahead heedless of if we are ready or not.

I just hope it doesn't backfire on him, as I expect it will. Or if so, that it doesn't implode before someone else can come along with a better and more managably paced metaverse.

I think their only philosophy might be "Do it slowly and inconsistently".

Well they certainly don't want to hear complaints anymore.

Big Business Invester: Well the product does look interesting, how do the customers like it?

LL: Why here ... take a look at our website ... no complaints from anyone.

Once I hit a deer with my car. I broke its spine, but it was still alive. I felt really bad about it. Then the policeman came along, put a blanket over the animal and emptied his revolver into the animals head.

The relief was palpable.

So we need to toss a blanket over philip and shoot at him. Check. Can anyone script this?

Dead on.

It's obvious that the focus isn't on *paying* customers. If it were, this verification free sign-up thing wouldn't have happened.

It *is* about silencing any dissent that might keep people from drinking the koolaid.

Vision hasn't changed.

But I still think they're taking too big a risk with this move.
