Oh, fun. Preview crashes INSTANTLY for me.

Well I figured I'd try out 1.8.0(6), since its the version going LIVE tomorrow.

I'm screwed. (5) worked fine for me, but now (6) crashes instantly upon starting. I get "Loading Second Life..." then the window for SL opens and wham... crash.

Fun. Try a clean reinstall. If that doesn't work, spam the grid with IMPEACH DEV signs that actually bring the grid slowly into a crash-on-reboot condition.

Clean install didn't work.

I guess it's safe to assume that since the build of preview that is up right now is the one going live tomorrow, I'm S.O.L., huh?

The last line of my Secondlife.log seems to show the problem:

2005-12-13T08:01:30Z INFO: Unable to open image filestartup_logo.tga

After that the log stops, indicating that's what caused the problem. Lindens? Oh, Lindens?

I might be, too. If enough people encounter problems it'll be another fun week it emergency patches, grid crashes (software or greif), etc, etc.

But, since my little Primwood is in the pawn, and I don't start my new job until Monday, it looks like I might miss out on all that fun.

And with tonight's grid attack, which because of Roomie Connectivity Lag Effect, I'm only now hearing about, I can see it'll be a very fun week to finish those books I'm reading.

Ahh, I figured it out.

When you install a preview, it copies over all your settings. Except fonts. Well, it copies over the font settings, but not the font files themselves.

When I copied my custom font from my regular SL to my preview SL, worked fine.
