You should ask the mole people.

The sim `Atlas` probably has the deepest water in SL, since the water level is raised; it can be deeper than the normal 20m limitation elsewhere in the mainland. :)

There used to be a deep, deep hole in the very SW corner of Baku, I would always be losing objects to (X:0, Y:0, Z:0) and they'd only be a touch under the surface when I found them...

:/

It may have changed since they added on the void Sim to the west.

I'm not sure if you mean water depth or simply the lowest point.

My guess for lowest point would be on Cayman, which goes down to -4.8 meters. If not Cayman, then one of the other older sims without the terraforming limits. I don't think I've come across any land lower than -5 meters on the mainland.

I think the deepest water is in the newer void sims in the southeast. The sim Lembeck, for instance, has its water level at 80 meters and its lowest point is at .2 meters, so the water is almost 80 meters deep.

Tethys seems to have the highest point and the greatest change in elevation, going from the riverbed at 30.2 meters all the way up to 340.6 meters at its peak.

Shallowest sim is easy - the island sandbox has a minimum elevation of 25.7 meters and a max elevation of 25.7 meters :)

Wall and Star both have land at 0 elevation, with water levels at 80 :) All three of those lakes are similar. Hatton also has 80 meter water and bottoms out at 0, for instance. Maybe someone at LL likes submarines.

Edit - I'm passing out right now so I won't be see this thread until tomorrow morning :)

The lowest trench in SL is not accessible to any but a few select people.
It is -45m and grants access to special pipes that run under all of SL but are only visible in extreme depths.

And no, I'm not posting screenshots.

I read a depth of approximately 73 meters in the Mayo area. Those particular lake sims have horrendous lag right now though.

On a similar note, is there a sim that has land available that is all underwater?

I am interested in a subaqueated environment for a project I have in mind...
All of the sims that I have come across that have no dry-land are all protected.

I'd look along the waterway in the southeast section. Not all of the waterway is Gov Linden. Starting around Star the water is 80 meters deep, as indicated above, and continues that way further south. There were water only plots in Star when it came up and there was in Portage when I bought there as well. All water plots are available in the Atoll continent as well although they are shallower. Specifically, the land in Cincta is mostly water as well as other sims in the area so that would be a good point to start.

I'm curious about your project; care to elaborate? You might want to try posting in the classifieds Land Sales forum requesting an all (deep?) water parcel and stating the aproximate size you require.

My project is to build a dual underwater city... One part for "Mers" and the other as a Seabase for airbreathers. As a proof of concept, I wouldn't need a LOT of land... probably about 2048-2560 sqm.

If that project proves successful, I would be interested in developing a group to purchase, develop and maintain a maingrid sim (isolated Island sims make me claustrophobic...) around either or both of these themes, whichever arrangement proves popular enough to develop. But I get ahead of myself... proof of concept FIRST... then launch the bigger project.

thanks for all the input everyone! I'm launching an Expedition to some of the deeper parts of SL and that helps a lot. :)

Good luck on your expedition, Alex.

Do you need a submersible, or are you going SCUBA?

Maybe you are just going so low, you are falling out of the server and are really just seing the cables connecting the servers together ;)

I guess the "deepest" part is really dependant on what you are looking for. If you are looking absolute, then I would try one of the sims listed, but if you are looking for the greatest delta change, I would try the older parts of SL.

i already have a sub, although a Jules Verne style sub/bathescap might be quite "useful"..;) and a deep dive underwater suit for outside work would be good as well.

I'll try the Dnate's rec on searching in the older Sims.

The only problem with an underwater city is it would have to be inhabited by water-breathing Atlanteans (like in the Sub-Mariner comics) because you can't make air pockets by submerging linked prims...

At one time Krittania was looking water-worldly... I've not checked again, is it still ? There was a capsule for reaching the underwater construction, quite deep below the surface.
