Okay, this thread'll be scrapped in less than five posts, and I have little to lose. And it's just a slow forum day, so...

Basically. I have a couple problems currently. One is the lack or paying work (salary or contract) and that I have to find new digs by January. I'm scrambling and busting heads trying to get this done. But it still will be a sucky X-mas. I don't have a family to spend it with, and probably will end up by myself or someone elses family. Etc, etc. It all kinda sucks.

I've been working on a couple of projects that I'm not ready to unveil yet (those who need to, know.) that will make SL more interesting, at least for a few people. Sadly, all of this work is voluntary and will probably not net me a dime. Making profitable content isn't really my bag. Well, if I make content that just happens to be profitable, yeah, but this stuff won't really get my anywhere.

The problem is this. I have a 2.0ghz Compaq box that I managed to buy just before my last corporate job ended. But for the past three months I've been stuck with a blurry old 15" monitor and the integrated SiS video. It was flat out amazed I could boot into SL at all. It liked to freeze alot, but I managed to fix that. I can now get something like 8fps at 64m draw when there's nothign around but me and my work. Details are turned down, I can't run Shiny (a real pain on my soul), and I have no clue what Local Lighting is supposed to look like.

Basically. I need two things, a new(-ish) monitor and an nVidia card capable of running SL. Those two things alone would make coming year alot brighter. I'm taking a collection two ways:

Stuff for Sale:
I'm looking for an in-world location, but you can IM me for...
- The SH-22 Maverick Hovercraft (Big round ship thing) for $350
- The XLR8 Flight Booster HUD - $49
These are finished items. The Mavericks' picture taken on my last PC.

Services Offered:
- Building and Scripting
- Website Setup
- Male Escort
- Remote Desktop Tech Support

Or.. PayPal: I'll post the button on my blog shortly after this post. and update the links. I need to take screenshots of the couple of others things I've made today. But I thought I'd go ahead and drop this post before I got self-concious again.

Oh, and is sigimage too big? It's not too big unless it edges out the post right? I have to crank the letter sizes up to read on this monitor, so I can't really tell.

You poor thing. No one should have to experience SL devoid of shiny. ;.;

I can't even rebuild my last machine, which was able to render shiny at about the same framerate, but I couldn't go more than a couple of sims without my cache jamming. The 120gb Seagate hd must have gotten bumped around in shipping, cause it failed recently for the last time. I'm running off my old 20gb Maxtor. I could use a new HD but since all of my work was on the drive that just failed the day before I was going to make CD backups... it's been a bad year for my data.

I can't help you much on the monitor end, but I have an AGP 64MB nVidia GeForce 4 4200Ti card with your name on it if you want it. Its not the greatest, but better than what you've got, and within the minimum supported specs for SL.

If you want it, just send me a PM with your mailing address, and I'll bubblewrap and mail it to you. :)

If I could get these computers and laptops sold off that are just sitting around ticking me off I'd toss ya a monitor (or two). If I get this stuff taken care of soon i'll let you know Burke. THey are only 15" but hey they don't blink. :)

PS the machines are ticking me off only cause they are not what "I" need. Hlaf won't even run SL so everyone don't get excited. LOL

Thank you. Maybe I can see well enough to finish the project with it. Line of Sight isn't that great right now.

Shiny!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyway, I was going to say I've got an old 64MB GeForce 4 lying around here somewhere, which you could have, assuming I can find it, but it looks like Travis already offered the exact same thing. Also, like Krazzora, I've got a few 15" monitors sitting in my closet which are old but still work just fine. I'd be happy to part with one except that the shipping would probably cost more than the current value of the monitor. I have no idea where you live, but if you want to come to Buffalo and pick one up, you're more than welcome. :)

In Dallas. Ugh.
I do need to get my old Pc running so I can give Ubuntu a good try, that would require another HD.... or a really clever Microdrive installation.... (for some reason I have a 2gb Microdrive, I think I got it as part of a barter. saved my ass when the 120 went down. I'm a 10% or less critical files guy.
