Radio Stream

Hi im looking for a good new age/celtic music station but no having any luck looking on teh web. find some but then i try to stream them in they wont work. does anyone know of any new age/celtic stations that are compatible with streaming into sl. I aprreciate the help.

I use the Shoutcast/Winamp combination.

Firstly, download Winamp if you don't already have it.

Next, visit www.shoutcast.com and search for your genre of music - either a search term or a category search, as required.

Click on the "Listen" link next to your choice - some stations you will get various 'listener max' options and bitrates, I normally go for the highest listeners at the lowest bitrate, 24 works well (the less data the radio station, the more bandwidth available for Second Life). Always pick the type MP3, AAC+ doesn't seem to work in SL.

Once you have found a station you like, and listened to for a while, hold ALT and press 3 and it will bring up the stream info box. At the top you will see a stream URL such as http://80.237.184.57:12160 - highlight all this and copy (CTRL C). Then go to Second Life, click on the parcel name or "About Land", go to the Media tab, and paste (CTRL V) that URL in the "Music URL" box. After a few seconds, the music control box should appear on the bottom of the screen, click play, and you should now have your streaming audio.

Some stations keep changing the url slightly to stop people tapping in on a long-term basis - so you may find one day your music has died, simply find the station again and repeat the above process.

Incidently, I sell a small home stereo which you can edit to replace whatever stations you wish, and flip between up to 12 preset choices which are editable. It's in my store, use the link in my signature.
