At least parts of the forums, we've been told, will be closing in a few weeks.
A lot of people believe this means the end of the resmod program. I don't believe that has ever been said by a Linden, though.
Any resmods know?

I'm sure it won't. Who will make sure we stay on topic in forums remaining if the dismantle it.

From: Whimsycallie Pegler I'm sure it won't. Who will make sure we stay on topic in forums remaining if the dismantle it. Exactly. And since the fourms are a resource waster of Linden time, resmods will be the perfect solution.

I think LL suspects, with good reason, there might be some folks who will try to not abide by the rules and stay on topic, who will try to engage in personal attacks, accuse people of wrongdoing, etc., and are prepared to close the forums entirely if that happens.
Here's one alternative way to deal with posters who might try to turn the content creation forums into battle zones. Posts could be held in a queue for the resmods to read and separate the wheat from the chaff. Personal attacks, gibberish, off topic and otherwise unuseful posts would be disposed of; posts that were pertinent and useful, generally questions, answers to questions, or tips on the topic of the forum, would appear. The number of resmods would be increased until the group was able to clear the queue effectively. Not having any improper posts appear would hopefully take the fun out of forum abuse and cause the bad faith posters to have to find some other place to vandalize. Answered questions that seemed appropriate would be referred to the Lindens for review for inclusion in the Knowledgebase. The content creation forums wouldn't be a fun chatroom but they would be a place where people who wanted to know about how to do something in Second Life or using the associated third party programs to work with Second Life could go for help assured that their responses would be polite.

I personally would not post under the above descriped conditions.
I always try to stay relevant and civil. I don't want a cleaned up version of what some individual resmod thinks is ok.
I do think that some very specific guidelines should have been set up and followed. Posts outside of the guidelines should of been dealt with. So far it doesn't seem that the resmod program has worked too well. Hopefully they will at least overhaul it, but I kind of doubt it.
It looks like the resmods are going to be doing a thankless job without good instructions for a while longer.
