I just want to express my support for this stroke of genius. I have nothing else to add. You guys are brilliant. Simply amazing. Why didn't all of the other MMO developers with their silly official forums think of this?

Truly, LL has raised the bar.

It's all about controlling the information flow, particularly the information potential investors might see. With a blog the Lindens control what can be discussed and can ensure embarrassing (for them) subjects aren't raised even though it may be in the best interests of SL as a whole.

The fact that it removes forums which many people enjoyed a great deal just isnt on their radar screens, they are making it very obvious that we only count to the extent we can be milked for cash.

I suppose I just felt the need to express the depth of my support for this decision. I want LL to know how positive I feel and how much I can feel the love flowing from the love machine, spilling excess love over us all in great streams that spill down to form giant pools of warm love at our feet.

I feel that love.

It's hard to feel the love when you make no room for love because you are being filled with...non-love stuff. I see you attempt to get rid of your nonlove in other threads so at this pace you should have extra room for the "love" sometime soon.

What's hipper than blogs?

Actually being two years old ain't bad technology-wise, been out long enough to test, not so old as to really seem like a blast from the past.

There was a suggestion a good while back that each SL user would get an SL blog. I wonder how that would have worked out?

I wonder if I have a blog - does anyone know? I might have started one and forgot about it. That sounds like something I would do.

Telegrams might be an interesting option. Sittin' at work and 'long comes a telegram messenger with the latest news from Philip and the gang.

As many of us have come to realize. :(

I think LL should do blog podcast in real voice. That would make them totally hipster.

"Message from Western Linden. stop."
"Your complaints have been heard. stop."
"We will get right on it. stop"

Or a live Morse audio stream. "Di-deet-deet-di-deet-deet..." Haw.

or Linden smoke signals.

"Is that a raincloud on the horizon?"
"Nah. That's teh latest from Linden Lab."

Heh.

That would be kewl, but LL should totally do a daily video blog, ala Rocketboom. That would be teh sexxors.

Alex... can I have some of what you're on? Please?

And while you're at it, quit drinking the water from the cooler when you visit there! Geeze, I don't know what they slip into it, but it seems to be a doozy. No wonder the preview grid is having so many issues! ;)

Blog Good
09-04-2006 11:54
The more I think about it, the better I like the idea of blogs for SL.

But of course, it really goes far beyond LL's blog. That's not significant at all.

What could be *really* empowering is for blogs to become a serious communication medium for the rest of us. Blogs tend to have a much higher signal to noise ratio than newsgroups.

This week I'll be searching for good SL blogs to read. I installed Thunderbird, so I've got my e-mail and blog reading combined. All I need now are some great blogs to read! :-)

Blogs are very 2004. Philip needs to get a Myspace.com page for us to post on.

Alex, I think you confused some people by leaving out the <sarcasm> </sarcasm> tags. The </koolaid> container would have worked well, also.

The </koolaid> container is a closing tag only. Any content after </koolaid> should be disregarded. :)
