Blingo is also a trademarked name of a web site that awards prizes for searching. It is also the name of a game for the Mac that combines bingo cards and slots. Not sure how far you would get on the whole Blingo name exclusivity, Asri.

These events are basically providing what seems to be the "low-level game" of SL (from some conversations I've had with the rare non-idle people who hang out at camp chairs).

You win if you get to show off. You lose (or "cheat"

if you trade US$ for L$. The goal is to get as much cheap stuff as you can by putting in time on moneyballs and camping, and playing gambling games; then, show off your newly customised av, or - for advanced players - house.

What's really intriuging is that there's a Nintendo DS game called Ping Pals which essentially has exactly the same design. The goal, basically, is to "earn" self expression; the unlocking-things-over-time aspect means that choices made have some weight, and the gambling aspect makes things just "gamey" enough to have appeal when direct social interaction isn't available. It's intriuging that SL would have evolved so strongly to resemble this.

You're right of course. Currently their business is making sure that creating any non-commercial content in SL is as expensive and discouraging as possible.

Publishing yard sales and tringo right on the main map would be honest since its a vital part of SL's current economy.

Then again, so are hookers, but we dont see most countries publishing that in their official tour guides.

I'd say SL's marketing will be better off by removing the description behind these dots.
