Is there a way to friend someone who's not standing in front of you (or to be more specific, initiate friendship)?

Seems to me there's a way to do so with one's profile, but i can't find it.
Little help?

Last I looked the only way was to have them in front of you. You can use the offer-teleport on their profile to bring them to you, though, and then do it.
