Did LL go back really far or something to create the preview grid? I can't log in to test the new features.

had the same problem with 1.7 preview

LL use an older version of the database so residents born after a certain date can't access the preview grid. I don't know what that date is tho, I haven't seen LL post a notice about this. If you have changed your password recently try using the older version of the password if you have trouble logging in. I can't log in with my current password but can with my old one! Tres weird.

Looks like the database is a bit over two months old; so any user created in that time, wont be able to login to preview.

arrgh. that's so frustrating.
You'd think that they'd at least start with a relatively current user database. I wonder if I can talk support in to creating me an account on the preview grid  _____________________

Well, I can get in, and I joined in October (and not on the third) so it has to be more recent than "over two months old".

You're not missing anything. I tried out the 1.8 preview grid and crashed the moment i tried to change my avatar's appearance by dragging the folder onto my back. This problem persisted back on the main grid.... i crashed every time i tried to load a new appearance folder ... until i uninstalled the 1.8 preview software and cleared my cache. So i can wait until it actually works. I hope we don't have to go through a 1.7-style horror story when 1.8 is released.

This might sound really silly, but if it's 2 months old, would that not mean that it was from before 1.7? Wouldn't it make sense to take what was live after 1.7 and construct the preview from that? _____________________

From what I've seen, it's more than 2 months old (or very close to it) - I still have a partner according to my profile in the preview world.

Heh, I got an IM when I logged in, from two months ago, which is how I estimated the date.  _____________________

I'm along the same lines of Adam... I got an IM dated Oct 17, from Moopf, fascinatingly enough. Tying everything together in a connexiony sort of way.
 I arrived with older clothes and was instructed by Ashen Stygian to go into Appearance, where my most recent clothes suddenly appeared. I changed my gender, saved, changed it again, and then left Appearance. (That ol' trick.) And the changes stuck. Seems like my inventory was mirrored from that same day, including items I hadn't yet logged in to claim on the Main Grid. Also notice the mythological usage of the word DURGA. _____________________

Yes, it's oct 17th because I had offline messages from them waiting for me, and they were time stamped. I had a problem when I downloaded the patch and opened the preview client, it said that it was only open to mainentance people and employees. I had to reinstall the preview client for it to work
