Yep, you can die in Second Life on damage enabled (You'll see a heart icon and 100% on your title bar of SL), but the great thing is, you just wake up wherever you set as home like it is all a bad dream.

if you die you wake up in the hell sim, there is several puzzles to solve before being allowed to leave hell
