I am referring to the welcome page. If I was a potential new customer seeing these I would have some doubts. They look like some half baked picures from an amatuer website.
The real Second Life looks nothing like these pictures. What is the deal?

Whelp part of the problem I've noticed, really, is THE BAD JPG COMPRESSION.

The closeups of the females all look like they spread on their makeup with a trowel for one thing.

There are two different issues at play.
1) People take crappy pictures. People take great pictures too, but they aren't all great. 2) The send a postcard function is really low-rez. Try this out... go to the debug menu (Ctrl-Alt-D) and choose Hi-Rez Snapshots. Take a snapshot and save it to disk. Then uncheck Hi-Rez snapshots and save a snapshot to disk. See the difference? _____________________

2) The send a postcard function is really low-rez. I also graciously wish for bigger, better postcards. These are happy memories to be treasured, a part of our history. ![]() |

Susie, it's because of lossiness apparently.
Also bluegrass sucks. _____________________

I for one would love to see it happen. And THANKS! I love the debug menu! Just by paruising it, I found the keyboard shortcut to murder those annoying "poofer" creations without having to go through the View -->Beacons-->Hide Particles (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+= just in case you were wondering)

Cocoa, the map is slow for me too.
Susie, some do put their makeup on with a trowel. _____________________

Another reason is the postcard resolution is even further reduced on SecondLife.com to 400X300. Look at the same snapshots on Snapzilla and you will see they are at 640X470 resolution. LL are still compressing them too much, but at least the images are larger and more detailed there.
