that's funny because the first thing I thought of was why the hell didn't they wait till monday to do this so people could call if they had problems. I forgot my security password info so now I have to wait till monday.

Makes you wonder what would have happened had the forums closed yesterday though.

This happened TWO days ago... that's two days in which accounts could have been hacked. The password invalidation should have taken place two days ago. So, waiting until Monday for the mass lock-out wouldn't have hurt any more than it already has. Or they could have taken that two days of investigation to at least have gotten ready for the mass support problem they created. Either way, this is not good customer support. No, I am not one of those affected. I was lucky to actually remember mine and for my husband to remember his, so I could change both.

I seriously doubt the forums are going to close today, despite original intent. With a huge security crisis and resulting uproar, shuttering the forums before this is all resolved would be possibly the stupidest move LL could ever make from a customer relations standpoint.

Hey I just Noticed on the sign in page for Secondlife.com it says and I quote
" Seconf Life is a 3D Online Digital World. Imagined, created and (wait for it) OWNED by its residents"
Ok correct me if I'm wrong I own SL? So if thats the case guess Lindens aint going home this weekend, till they sort this mess and convince us we are safe.

The rumour is that the forums will be closing at 12AM PST (aka SLT). But with this hoopla, and whatnot, who knows....

I would say that LL did get owned, or is that pnwd? As far as the forums closing on schedule, LL has already decided they are not worth the cost - we should just go to some third party forum to speak amonst ourselves. To keep the forums open would be admitting they are still useful. Funny thing is, I did find them very helpful over the past few hours. Guess that's why my last name isn't Linden. |
