Due to the current economic situation, and rl issues, I can no longer justify paying my current tier. Therefore, I sadly will be deleting the Egyptian Temple of Hathor in Fujin on Monday morning.
The temple was designed and mainly built by Terramis Sojourner and he has done a most wonderful job. It is nearly 2/3 of a sim of catacombs, halls, gardens, pools and tombs.
I will be taking photos and movies over the weekend so as to be able to put together a little film to remember it by. If you have Egyptian style clothing and would like to be a fillm star, do let me know, hehe.
Thank you to everyone who has send me messages about the temple, I know a lot of people were regular visitors. And thank you to everyone who purchased items from me - that is how I kept the temple going so long.
*hugs* Elgyfu

Sorry to hear that Elgyfu - you might also add an entry into the SL History Wiki. Don't forget to add pics!

Are you archiving the build? Might be good if you want to pass it on, or put it up again later.

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear it... it's a beautiful place, it's even been in my picks for a while now. Good thing I always made a point of taking lots of snaps whenever I was there. I'd agree, definitely keep an archive copy of the build! And many thanks to you and Terramis for giving SL such an amazing place for so long.

umm, dont delete the temple. Damn, there's too few places of quality in SL anyway. Break it up and keep it in your inventory, or for that matter there are hundreds of people who will help you store it.
Do us all a favor, and yourself, and keep your work. There's absolutely no reason to delete such work.

This is truly sad. The Temple is a wonderful place to wander through over and over again. Good Luck with your future projects Elgyfu; you do good work.

Yes, is sad, I just wrote on another thread I saw about this. Very sad you taking it down. We will miss this place. Was a great place to take newbies to explore. I bought tons of things there.... Well thanks for having such a wonderful place.

Sorry to see the Temple go!
05-27-2006 12:40
I happened upon the temple when I was wandering around SL when it was first built and have never been so amazed with the talent and creativity here on SL as I was when I saw this. What a shame that it has to be taken down. I have been taking the day today to take pictures of this truly amazing build and wish that there was a way that the Lindens could help you out. They should be able to reward such creativity and use it to their advantage by helping with land use fees. But that's only a pipe dream. . . . Anyway, sorry to see it go! Best of luck on future projects to both of you.

Thank you so much for all the kind words. The Temple has been very dear to me. It took many, many hours of work from Terramis (and a good few from myself too) to create. It makes me very happy to know that so many people have enjoyed visiting it.

Indeed Second Life is a playground for those with the luxury of expendable RL currency. Awesome build, awesome ambition, perhaps unlucky timing. Maybe the future will grant you the chance to rebuild and one can only hope SL can play a better home to your build then.

Oh Khamon, you made me cry Again. Pulling that down was so hard. I feel like I am practically a murderer. Thank you so much to everyone who tried to help preserve it. There were emotional reasons behind the decision, as well as financial ones. Those could not be resolved, unfortunately. I am just glad so many people enjoyed the Temple as much as I did. Thank you, Terramis, for all the countless hours you put into the temple. The many textures you created and uploaded and the dozens of times you stayed up all night to build whilst I chatted and distracted your work. I wanted something beautiful, you gave me far more than I could have imagined. Plus the friendship of a really great guy. Love you, be well.

From: Elgyfu Wishbringer Pulling that down was so hard. I feel like I am practically a murderer.
I can imagine.... if it's any consolation, you gave SL a really special gift for awhile, and everyone who visited no doubt has a lot of happy memories of the place. (Or dozens of snaps and a few select bits of decor, like me!) That's the aspect of SL that's been hardest for me to get used to-- the fact that the only constant thing about it is change, and even the good things can't stay around forever. It's hard to take down a build you've grown to love, but on the other hand, that frees you up to go on to fresh ideas, new projects, etc. You deserve a rest now, after taking care of the Temple for so long!
