Some days ago, i joined Second Life. I REALLY love it!!!!!! The freedom and the possibilities are amazing. Since i have only the free account and cant afford another account, i feel less worthy than lets say premium account members. I feel like just having half of the game..... Is it possible for a free member to enjoy the game to its full potential?? And to get a job to earn money?? or is it absolutely necessary to buy an account???
I'd appriciate your answers!!!
Greetings, Setnacht

of couse you dont need a premium acct. There are small downsides (like not owning land, but you CAN rent) but the game is just as fun. And yes you can still get a job and make money.

You are enjoying the full experience except for 2 things..one owning your own land. Rent instead. Two, some places ban you if you aren't registered with a credit card verifying that you are over 18. The game, the sims, the building, the jobs, the making money, buying things is at your disposal with a free account. Now go out there and have some fun!

the onlt difference between a Premium and Free account is: Ability to own land weekly allowence of 400L$ (as your a new account) that is the only difference that premium accounts get. at the end of the day play the game on the free account and enjoy and if the time comes you want to upgrade the option is there for you

There is no "end game". So what you feel SL's full potential might be different than what I see or what I even care to get out of it. Take your time and see what all SL has to offer and dont worry about getting everything out of it. Try to get your arms around what it could be to you.
One thing you'll need to learn about SL is that in general the more you put into it, the more you'll get out. You can't sit around expecting to be entertained or make money. You have to put work and effort into it. There arnt always "jobs" for you nor people sitting around waiting to entertain you.

Well, I am also a free member and can honestly say I'm having a ball here. Sure, if you want to own land you have to pay for a premium account but if your goal is simply to meet people and have fun at events you can easily do that for free. If you want a little extra L$ to buy clothes or whatever you could use the camping chairs or dance pads. You can also attend games like trivia contests and bingo and maybe win some L$. I won L$100 last night at an 80's trivia event.
There are so many cool things to see at sl that I never get bored just looking around. If you want a home you can always rent land and get a free house at a yard sale (I'm doing this right now).
Have fun because that is the best part of Sl!

I have been playing (minus a absence last fall/winter) for a year and a half. Up until last month still wore freebie jeans. I have a premium account and spent very few L, yet I still manage to have fun and create and feel that I am getting all of the game.
I guess my point is that it all depends on what your perception of "all of the game" is. do you want to spend money on all sorts of gadgets, or do you want to create, explore, and try all sorts of different things?
I don't see why a free account cannot have the same experience that a premuim account member does, aside from owning land. Do you really need a house? are you actually going to sleep in SL?
Get out, explore the world, experiment with building and scripting, most of all... ENJOY YOURSELF!!!
Welcome to Second Life...
