Do anyone use a web page to control in-world objects?

As an example, does anyone use a web page with sliders and numeric input fields and such to control an in-world particle generator?

Yes :)

No. :D

But this certainly could be done. Currently, the best way to control objects in SL from a webpage is RPC.

And stuff like this could be done from the in-world mozilla browser if they'd let us have access to it?

You can change the URL by going to client->debug settings and putting whatever URL you like.

I am aware of that.

That is not the same as having access to a mozilla window implemented officially, with it being available to everyone in the same way that llDialog is available to everyone, and with scripting support added.

Yes. Assuming you have a basic page setup that will talk over RPC to your in-world objects, there's no reason you couldn't hit that same page with the in-world mozilla browser.

I have a page that "talks" to in-world objects - via email.

And although I agree that RPC is a good method it is not the be-all and end-all of it, it depends what form your communication takes.

If it is like mine, a once in a while message, then email is good enough, if it is a piece of data that can be stored and updated on a web page then http works well.

As for using the in-world browser to access it - you can do that already via a few little changes ( and I personally believe it wont be long before LL open it up to be scriptable access - crosses fingers )

The only problem I have found with using the in-world browser is that it acts a little funny with some of the applets and java scripts ( eg I cannot log into slexchange - but I can log into others )
