Group rate on land?

Me and some friends are looking to buy some land together.
After talking toa few people we have heard there is a group rate and insentives for having a few people buy land together.

Is this true? If so, how? If not, are there any kind of group rates availible for SL?

IF there is, how do we get them?

I don't believe there are group rates as such.

To quality for the bonus, you have to upgrade and pay a tier fee in the normal way, then create a group and contribute your tier to the group. The group will then gain the ability to own 10% more land than you, alone, could given the same tier. If several people contribute tier, the bonus is calculated on the total amount.

(I'm sure there was something a while back about this only working if more than 1 person contributed tier but I'm not sure that ever went anywhere..)
