So I logged into SL today all excited to see the new ripple water... turned it on, and now water is just gone! Is anyone else having this issue? If so did you find a fix? Also what kind of graphics card do you have if you water is gone as well? So far I've talked to another person with this issue. Here's our graphics card info. Hope it's not the issue... mine was expensive. My graphics card: RADEON X850 PRO x86/MMX/3DNow!/SSE2 His: RADEON 9550 x86/MMX/3DNow!/SSE

hmm was it working in preview?
The people who I've heard it doesn't work for, their option is just grayed out..

Hi Nyte, I have the same problem with the water disappearing when I turn the ripples on. I have a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis. No it's not greyed out for me, just doesn't work <sigh>

I didn't try the preview out at all. So not sure on that, Zapoteth. I sent an email to support... maybe they'll offer some insight.

If upgrading your video drivers doesn't work, you may also want to just throw out your settings.ini file. It's located in C:\Documents and Settings\(your computer account user name)\Application Data\SecondLife\User_settings on the PC and ~/Library/Application Support/SecondLife/User_settings on the Mac. You will need to set your Preferences back up (turn on shiny, set your draw distance, etc).

I like how everyone who's having problems with ripple water on this thread is using Radeons. Now I remember why I swore off ATI products entirely many years ago, never had anything but trouble with them.
On a related note, the water looks fantastic. Some eye candy is worth having. Second Life doesn't look quite so cheap anymore.

I had this same problem with my Radeon 9600 in the preview. I upgraded my video drivers with the fabled Omega drivers that a lot of people have suggested - www.omegadrivers.net - and it fixed it immediately. P2 Edit: Whoops. that's .NET, not .COM. Sorry.

Sounds like your typical ATI problems.
Steps: 1) Update / Hack Drivers 2) Beat LL over the head for some frigging support.

- Sam Follow Up: So far working fine, and took about 5min. I do have some random slowness and crashing (above 700m) in SL, but I am not sure if it's 1.8 or my comp. (I am suspecting a 1.8 bug) but we'll see. - Sam

I had the exact same issues. Updating to the drivers that came out last Thursday (Catalyst 5.12) fixed it for me. -Ghoti

ATI used to be the bomb, back when nVidia boards were burning up even when they started adding plaid-mode fans. Then ATI got picked for the XBox and half their development time seemed to go down the drain. Well, thy have nVidia inthe XBox 360...
