I logged in briefly this morning, stepped out onto the sunny beach behind my home, and found... SNOW! It looked so odd to me to see the sim I live in turned white and snowy, that I thought something was wrong with my graphics settings.

:D

Kinda cool, really. My first 'Winter' in Second Life has arrived.

* Tosses a snowball at the next poster in this thread... * :D

Is it snowy in your sim?

I've already made my first snowman. Given global warming climate change in RL, that may be the only snowman I get to make this year.

We already have a lovely snow scene placed in Gerstle. Just look for the waterfalls (the 'warm' end of the sim), and follow it upriver!

Is the snow Linden made? or by a snow machine? :)

Apparently it's Linden work - a replacement of the basic Terrain textures, as far as I can tell. Not certain though, as The Forest is a community sim, with no real 'private land'. What was grassy hills and the like yesterday is white snow now.

Isn't the Forest part of Ansheland? That would mean Anshe or one of her employees is to 'thank' for the snow, not a Linden.

I live in a sim owned by Hiro Queso and he PM'd everyone to ask if we wanted snow for the Holidays. We all said yes, and that's how we got snow. I would hate to have snow just thrust upon us.

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?

I also have a very inexpensive Snow Ball that produces 100% particle based, real looking snow fall for only L$10. :)

Nothing terribly fancy but, low priced & just in time for the season! :p
