"Telecommuting to a brave new world: the rise of virtual jobs" by Peter Svensson in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer

CHARTREUSE REGION, Second Life -- Kasi Nafus' clothing store has bucolic surroundings. There's a maple tree in fall colors outside, right across a brook. A little further away, a zebra munches on a bush.

If the customers arrive by foot, they have to wade through the brook. They don't really mind, though. The water is not, in fact, real. Nor is Nafus' clothing store. They only exist as three-dimensional representations in a virtual world called Second Life.

TY! I met the author of the article at the convention, he was a lot of fun to talk to. Very nice fellow.

I also love how they listed the location:
CHARTREUSE REGION, Second Life --

YAY SL!!!:)

(also: the zebra munching on the bush was a gift from starax. <3 )

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.

Equivalent to the South Pacific Island of Tuvalu?

It's kind of weird to think we're spending the same amount on all our virtual lives as a whole island of people is on eating, sleeping, living, EVERYTHING.

Congrats, Neph!

Oh, Enabran? I've lost my conversion table. What's the conversion between a metric assload and an imperial assload? :)

Many news outlets these days have found that it is easier to read other news outlets than go and find stories of their own. Such practices have made the phrase "fashion news" somewhat redundant.

As for Nephaline, it couldn't happen to a nicer person; for LL - unfortunately - it could not come at a much worse time.
