For the forums, go to User CP (Control Panel) and set your timezone regon. When this is set correctly, all times in the forums will show correctly to you.

ALso, SLT is PST, a.k.a. West Coast USA time. or GMT -8.

SLT is just so much better to confuse non-SLers :).

The only difference is that one has an SL and the other has a PS...

Second Life Time (SLT) is the time reported in-world - it is also PST. Sorry for any confusion! :)

As far as the forum time - you can change the time in the forums to match your local time or any time zone by going to the User CP- Edit Options panel.

"Do you know what time it is?" -Flava Flav

Hmmm I wonder if all new Resis accounts on here could be set to SLT. Default user preferences are configurable at the Linden end aren't they?

I've had a few Resis ask me "Why's my clock off???" upon first coming to the SL Forums. That's been kinda confusing.

Ahh... but SLT is not always PST.

Pacific Standard Time is GMT -8. In other words, when it's 12:00 noon in California in the winter, it's 8:00 in the evening in London.

However, it gets more interesting, because of DST, or Daylight Savings Time. During the summer, the clock moves forward an hour to GMT-7.

During the summer, California is not in PST. It's in PDT, or Pacific Daylight Time.

Regardless of whether London observes daylight savings time, GMT is *always* the same.

So, rather than say "PST" or "PDT", it's better to say "Second Life Time". Since everybody can see the clock in the Second Life client (when it's running, that is), everybody can make their own time zone adjustments, and we all know what time 12:00 SLT is in our local time.

Clear as mud?

Yeah, but SLT changed from PDT to PST when daylight savings ended.
