I think it's real helpful, but a little unneciscary. Now, a working jetpack that auctually pushes the avatar up, instead of flying, is better then flying whenever you want. Flying is just a little... Well... Odd...
I mean flying is helpful and all, but a bit unreal... I don't know if I should say it's a bad thing of if it's a good thing that you can randomly take off and fly without needing a jetpack.
What do you all think?

yea flying isnt really neccesary hehe i mean we can just build planes and realistic stuff. yea like a jetpack and whatever

If you don't like flying without packs or vehicles - don't.

What do you all think? how can flying be werid i mean like look around we got animal avys giant robots heck money tree's and chairs that pay you to be lazy now aint that werider. |

We don't have sidewalks and roads enough to take us where we want to go. People need travel thoroughfares, a means to see the world without teleporting. Enter flying. The sky is our sidewalk. We're in an artificial reality, one that has some rules of our reality and many that are bent. Our avatars do not eat nor sleep, their muscles do not flex, they don't breathe. Attire and gender can be changed in seconds. With so much reality suspended already with all the rezzing and stuff ... how can flying be so strange? iRL I am acrophobic (but I have no problem riding planes) ... but in SL I routinely fly at 1000m+ From: Charles Granville Second Life is not real life... and if it was, why would you be playing it? There is something to be said for how things would be if we couldn't fly. The world would become much larger, and we would begin to see the things we miss when we simply fly by them. Of course, take away teleportation as well (would be necessary to make it possible to travel to islands and the like somehow, though), and the world would get REALLY big, and we would REALLY see all those things we normally miss ... Actually, I think the idea of removing flight, given the presence of flight vehicles, wouldn't be so bad. I wouldn't be against it ... although I'm not particularly "for" it, either. It would certainly be good for the vehicle market.

No one makes you fly. it's an option. If you don't think you should or don't want to, then don't. I don't care for casions, but not everyone will agree with me. I just don't go to them.

Thats one of the best things about SL, is that you can do things you can't get away with in RL. Not only can I fly, I can choose to fall from 1000m watch myself go splat and get up and dust myself off. Good times.
