Prims (or Primitives) are the basic building blocks of second life. Sorta like legos! There are a set of basic shapes you can use to create anything from shoes, to cars to houses etc You can go to the New Citizens Inc by using Search - Places tab - when logged into the game and typing in that name. They have classes there that can teach you all about prims and pretty much anything else you want to learn  good luck and stay safe!

a simpler explanation would be a prim is a single item shape which you can then twist torture and manipulate and link together to build items

Aside from your fellow avatars, almost everything you see in SL that isn't an animation or other effect, is made out of prims. (you put textures on prims to make them look like... something other than plywood, which is also a texture but I digress...) Go to the Ivory Tower of Primitives. You can do a self-paced tutorial to learn how to make things with them. |

They usually mean that is the limit of the number of prims they can have on their land. The larger the land, the more prims you are allowed. Even a tiny object can be made from dozens of prims, they pile up fast. |
