No Referral Bucks?

Not sure where else to put this?

I sent out 2 referral emails today and neither person has got them yet. One of the just went ahead and signed up and put my name as the referrer but I didn't get the 1000 $L ??

Any clues?

This sucks because I really tried hard and had to sell both friends to come here and now I get nothing for my trouble!

did u try relogging? sometimes it takes a relog back into the game 4 the account 2 b updated with the money.

I believe an account has to be here a week in order for you to earn the referral, regardless if it's free or not.

Here is the scoop.............

I did restart----no change.

It says 1000$L instantly on free accounts.

I finally received the 1000$L from my one friend who signed up today.

None of the refer emails have been received though.

I'll just chalk this up to slow sl servers i guess?

It takes me up to a day for me to get referral money after they initially log on

I referred a friend, and she has been here for well over a week, and I have not received ANY bonus. I should have received 1,000 L's. Oh well....

Then she may have not typed in your name correctly in the referral box

Same. I referred my girlfriend well over a week ago and after two days got nothing. I called SL and found that she did spell my name wrong and they corrected it saying, I would recieve the 1000L that evening. I got 75L.
Then I get an e-mail telling me that she needed to contact them herself to fix the problem. She did... 5 days ago.... still nothing.

are the Lindens TRYING to ruin their own creation? Seems to me that current customer happiness should be high on their list of 'things to do' while their world is struggling.

Referrals are incredibly important to us at Linden Lab. Here's how things should work:

1. You tell somebody about Second Life and ask them to enter your name as their referrer when they register OR
2. You send a person a referral link according to the instructions at http://secondlife.com/community/referral_code.php . Doing this automatically credits you as the referrer and eliminates the risk of them mis-spelling your SL Name

How the referral award is paid out depends on whether the person becomes a Basic or Premium member.

It sounds as if something funny is going on. I will look into this tomorrow and fix the problem if there is one.

In the meantime, if you're having problems getting credited for referrals, please send me an email at [email]reuben@lindenlab.com[/email] describing the problem and include your SL name and the SL name of the person you referred.

Referrals and word of mouth drive are critical and hugely appreciated and its very important that we give credit where credit is due.

Yes, the referral link is an awsome idea and I have been sending that to friends. Can make no mistakes with that.

I'm sad. I actualy expected help this time from a Linden and I was let down....again.
I have yet to receive the bonus and I have done everything asked of me.

LL should stop advertiseing that they pay a referral bonus if they have no intentions of actualy paying that bonus.

I get paid my bonuses when people sign up under me. Of course, I use the link so they can't mess up my name.

I use the link NOW but haven't gotten any referrals with that yet. And there was a name mis-spell in a referral I haven't gotten paid for but, that has been taken care of. I called SL and talked to them personaly AND the both of us sent e-mails giveing the correct spelling. Each time we have contacted people they said it was or would be taken care of and I would be paid. ... in a galaxy far far away there was a place called never-never land.....

I'm really not complaining about this. I just wonder why I keep getting told it's fixed when they obviously have not done anything to fix it at all. I'm a businessman myself and looking to use SL for business purposes. Also, I was once a television personality and looking now to use SL for marketing if and when LL gives me permissions. However, I can not see myself sinking my money into this if they can not keep their word on something as trivial as this.

Reuben said he'd look into it. Give it some time and send him a friendly IM about it. If it was a legit referral, then they will pay. They are not going to shaft you.

Er, could the fact that a lot of people are going to spell your name "Eamon" automatically have anything to do with it? I had to double-check that "Eamonn" was even a correct spelling.

OK, I've checked into this and here's what I've found.

The referral payment system is working. If a referral link is used or your name is spelled correctly at the time of sign-up, then your account is credited with the appropriate amount of L$ within 24 hours (and usually much sooner than that).

Those of you having problems -- I will not discuss the details of each case here -- just email me (if you haven't already) and I'll sort it out for you, if the problem is legit.

So does that mean that we will now get thsoe referral credits? I approached the Lindens about not getting referral credit from someone about a month ago and was basically told "tough luck"...

I did e-mail Reuben and he's e-mailed me back a couple times. I do feel that he is trying to fix the problem. (why else would he waist his time e-mailing me if he isn't truely trying to fix it). So, thanks Reuben!

responce to those who (sarcasticly) asked about the spelling of my name; I did mention that it was spelled wrong when first put in as referral. After talking to a Linden on phone and through e-mail the spelling was corrected. Furthermore, the name Eamonn is the Irish spelling of my real middle name of Edmund so back off on makeing fun of peoples names.
