Are the photographs on the main page map moderated? Theres at least one there right now showing yet another one of thos damned "Impeach" signs. Stright north of that cluster of red ones in the snowie area, the one on its own in the road. (Can't get sim name, no online atm).
But really, is that what you want to show off to potential SL users? A Giant politcal statment?

A few weeks ago there was one of a picture of a guy bent over spreading his anus. It was a fine moment for someone I'm sure. It was pulled in a hurry though so yes, they are moderated.

Emailing screenshots of the Impeach George Bush signs might be a good thing to do for those who don't like having them around. Assuming that Linden Labs finds them a bit embarrassing. One can go to ROAM: Search The Metaverse, pop in "Lazarus Divine" as the search term, then take a "screenshot to pics@slpics.com " and "abuse report on disturbing the peace - impairing other's enjoyment of Second Life" tour of Second Life pretty quickly with P2P and a web page of links to their locations.

Why would they moderate Impeach Bush signs off of the homepage?

From: Khamon Fate Why would they moderate Impeach Bush signs off of the homepage? They might think this makes it look like you can't count on enjoying the land you pay for because of the high probability that someone will make a deliberately ugly build next door in order to get you to pay a huge amount in order to get rid of the thing that is spoiling your view, so since you can't count on enjoying the land you buy, you might just as well not buy any.

I'd think they would fly around and explore the world before going to premium anyways. So they would probably see the signs anyways, then they will decided from there.

Well that's true and a fundamental part of playing Second Life. Why would they want to rig the website to lie to potential customers by giving them any other impression?

From: Khamon Fate Well that's true and a fundamental part of playing Second Life. Why would they want to rig the website to lie to potential customers by giving them any other impression? The reason why they would want to lie and make the product look more desirable than it is is because it makes them more money. Get them in the door, convince them to go premium, if they get unhappy later, well, they don't get a satisfaction guaranteed or your money back deal. If they get unhappy about owning land due to ugly builds next door and cancel the account that just leaves more free storage space and processing capacity to fleece the next mark. They used to say for a long time that the streaming technology made the world appear to be there by the time you turned to look at it. It wasn't true, but it sounded good and enticed people to try the place out. The say you can do whatever you want. I want to write scripts using a good text editor built in the interface. I want to see trees that don't seem to change species as you change distance from them, and don't pop into or vanish from view as you fly to or from them. I want to not see the gray loading textures. I want the buildings to rez before you are right about to run into them. I want to drive cars and fly planes across the sim borders reliably. I want the trees not to look dayglo when you look at them the wrong way. I want to be able to turn off group chat. I want to go to the Welcome Area at the intersection of four PG sims and see the PG standards enforced. I'm so picky, I actually want to see all the avatars around displayed without having to change my active group. I can't do these things, and hence the claim that you can do whatever you want is false. Doing these things is apparently covered in the imagination part of the spiel, not the "you can do" part. They aren't likely to get as many customers telling the truth and pointing out all the problems with the program. I'm not concerned with them removing the picture that illustrate one reason why people buy land in Second Life, get disappointed, move, get disappointed, wise up and tier to zero. My comment is more of an attempt to suggesting a way to bring this customer dissatisfaction to their attention over and over till they find a way to stop the hideous sign scam. It seems plausible to me that, oh, several hundred people filing an abuse report at each of the Impeach Bush sites at least 3 times a day and posting a pic to pics@slpics.com and thus making it appear that that is the best thing there is in Second Life to take a picture of might get somebody in charge's attention. Of course they may love having pictures showing how you can make money with no talent by being a jerk, there may be a lot of untapped demand for that, and maybe instead of trying to suppress this type of behavior they should seek publicity pointing out how easy it is to make a quick buck here using the ugly build technique. I don't own any land anymore, the technical problems and annoying neigbor behavior took the fun out it. Plus you need a quarter sim to have enough prims to play properly. I just feel sorry for the people who buy their land and are in the make believe playing house frame of mind and get disappointed. It's like getting a nice toy for Christmas and someone comes up and breaks it out of malice. It breaks your heart not just because it's your new toy but it hurts just knowing what mean and hateful people there are in the world, so stingy and hateful they won't even let you have a little fun in a virtual world. I also feel sorry for the many people who have worked hard to make stores that offer a product for mutually profitable trade who have their work devalued by this ugly build to jack up price behavior. --- My post is bit off the topic of this thread. Sorry.
